Texans are usually so polite and courteous to each other, but somehow that wonderful approach to life had vanished as soon as we set foot inside - i felt i was back in New York - except for the fact that the bagels were really not very good.
It saddens me to write a negative review for a local business because i do my best to support the local community, but in this case i believe it is warranted. Now to be fair, on a Saturday morning the place was very busy, which i think caused the staff to be overwhelmed, but they could benefit from some better organization. The staff were rushing customers and i was disappointed to see the customers themselves rushing each other, even pushing past each other to refill their coffee cups; pick up lids, sweetener etc. Placing all of the self serve coffee items along the counter against which the customers line up for service showed a lack of foresight. The fact that this must happen every day suggests a certain indifference to the quality of the customer experience.
Due to the volume of customers i had to place my order twice. When i arrived at the the cashier without a ticket (the server hadn't given it to me) I was brushed aide while they processed the orders of others. They proceeded to write my order on a piece of paper, hand it to me and then asked for it back- immediately (what a pa-lava!). I was also a little alarmed that the cashier laid my credit card on the counter for me to pick up after swiping, as if putting it back in my hands would have taken too much time. Although i had words with 3-4 members of staff, not one "please" or "thank you" escaped from their lips.
Well, I thought to myself, if this place is so great that it can cause Texans to abandon their usual polite and cheerful ways, the food must be truly spectacular. Sadly, it was not. It was merely ok - which suddenly made the whole experience inexcusable and inexplicable. South Arlington's Iris bagel company which i visited a couple of weeks earlier was a much better experience in terms of food and service...And finally what's with all the yoga pants? about half the customers and staff were dressed in skin tight latex...it was a little disconcerting. I felt a little added disappointed because it was my 14 year old step son's birthday breakfast...it should have been...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I woke up on a beautiful Saturday morning, trying to decide on what we would like to eat for breakfast that morning. We saw Yogi's deli and saw that they had great reviews, so we decided that we would try them out, because we hadn't been there before. We placed our order online, and we were super excited to see that it would be ready in just 12 minutes.
When we arrived at the restaurant, we were immediately put off by the employee waving menus at us, trying to flag us down. When we approached the counter, we were told that the order pickups are at the back of the store, so we gladly went to the back of store at the counter.
We walked through the restaurant finagling our way through people, and finally arrived at the counter, and told the employee that we were picking up an order, and stated the name on the order. The employee told us that ours was the big bag, and offered no more direction. My girlfriend and I looked at the 3 bags sitting on the counter all of which looked roughly equal in size. I asked the employee if she could please describe what big bag she was referring to, and she sighed and pushed our bag forward.
We left the restaurant and headed home, excited to try this new restaurant. When we arrived at the house, we realized that no condiments, napkins, or anything was attached to the order. There was no butter or jelly provided for toast. This alone wasnt a big deal. But when I went to open up my "Kitchen Sink Scramble" I was immediately put off by the fact that two ketchup packets were placed INSIDE my food, underneath melted cheese. Meaning whatever was on the person's hands when they grabbed the ketchup packets, inevitably made it into my food. Which is pretty appetite suppressing, instead of appetite inducing. I should have taken a picture but I wasn't originally planning on writing a review.
I didn't give 1 star for any one reason, but rather everything mentioned here just added up, and made for a very poor first impression. I can say that I will never again do business with...
Read moreWe used to love this place. We would come in almost every week for the twelve years we have lived in Fort Worth. Recently, Yogi sold the restaurant and the new owners have been making changes. I don’t think I will be going back.
Our last two visits, the bagels were extremely tough and chewy, not at all what they used to be. The cheese bagels were greasy, something you would see if a lower quality cheese was being used. They used to be a favorite that we would buy extras to take home.
I ordered an egg sandwich on a bagel. It had a single egg on it. The egg was so thin, it was almost tasteless. I effectively had a very tough bagel with a single slice of cheese, a little ham and one hyper thin egg.
My son got a breakfast special that had half as much potatoes as they used to give and the ham didn’t taste the same. He ended up not eating it and it’s not like him to do that at all.
We got pancakes, used to be the best in town. I’ve tried to make pancakes as good as those and never succeeded. The pancakes this last visit were good, but not what they used to be like. Not the pancakes I used to strive to match.
They added these baskets with tons of condiments and little jelly caddies on the tables. This would be great if the tables were large enough to allow those and the plates, but they aren’t unless you take a table intended for a larger number of people. I had to move them off the table to the one next to us to fit our meal.
All in all, the place is now what I would consider “ok” but nothing worth stopping for. I have taken to buying two dozen bagels and freezing them from a place in Dallas. It makes me very sad, but this is the...
