Maui Hawaiian BBQ — Restaurant in Fountain Valley

It's unfortunate that this is a place with legitimately great food but the service is so piss poor I can't justify giving them my business. I called in to order last night at 740p and I was informed that they were not taking phone orders anymore. I thought, ok, I'll just go and order in person as I was nearby anyway. I walk in the door at 748pm and the cashier simply says they are not taking orders anymore. I explained that the sign on the door says they close at 8pm. He says last call is 745... This is not posted anywhere, not advertised or communicated in any way. I suppose I should understand that it's a small, family owned establishment or something like that and that it's been a long day and they all just want to get home on time. Well, I work too. In a service industry that is all time based. So piss off with all that nonsense! You're either open til 8p or you are not. Advertise properly and conduct your business in accordance to your own posted policies. I won't ever be back and everyone I know will get to hear...

I've had a few other loco mocos before, I don't really remember them, I remember really enjoying the one from l&l though. Don't order the loco moco here. The patty is similar to a burger you would purchase at a little league baseball game from the snack bar, probably purchased frozen at stater brothers. The gravy is way too salty. The best part of the meal was the macaroni salad. The loco moco is edible, but a terrible choice considering the other options here. Try the katsu or the bbq instead.

UPDATE This time I ate the BBQ chicken mini meal, the chicken was juicy, full of flavor, and there was little to no fat. I'm not a big eater, I get full off of 2 slices of pizza, but the mini meal was more than I needed. Vickie the owner was wonderful and very accommodating to my facility's requests. We ordered "3" large trays of catered items for my facility's FriendsGiving celebration. Our request was to have the food ready to be picked up by 10:30am. Vickie stated that her staff didn't arrive to work till 10:30am, so the request wouldn't be fulfilled. However after some thought, Vickie changed her mind and allowed her staff to come in earlier to complete our order for pick up at 10:30am! All "3" large trays of food were very full and worth the price for each tray and able to feed more than 80 people.
