This is probably the worst restaurant experience I've ever had And I always leave good reviews for people And their staff. We Ordered a skillet With a chicken breast, mashed potatoes and broccoli.
I asked to add cheese to my broccoli We also ordered a trio appetizer. Our server was simon. We waited about 45 minutes and never received our appetizer.
We ended up getting our food first, I could hear the sizzling of the chicken and cheese But my mashed potatoes and broccoli were COLD NO HEAT TO THEM. It doesn't make sense that you send out a skillet with 2 cold sides.
So we brought it to Simon's attention and he said no problem. HE SAID I talked to the manager and they're going to REMAKE your food. Another 20 minutes pass and we finally get our appetizer. Which is now been over an hour.
Mind you, we went in at 10 PM, And the place was almost empty about four or five different customers, so it shouldn't have taken that long.
Now we waited another 25 minutes for them to refire our skillets.
I noticed when they brought the skillet back that the arrangement of the chicken was identical as the one that we got previously because it had crispy onions on top and I HAD smaller onions and my spouse had bigger onions. So I thought that was kind of strange that it looked the same.
The manager brought out our " refired skillets", And I told him that there was no cheese on my broccoli And I already had ask for IT originally so he offered a cheese sauce which took another 10 minutes to receive.
When I move my broccoli around, Originally they had put shredded CHEDDAR cheese on my original skillet.
I noticed that they used the same skillet with chicken because the cheese was cheddar That was put on top of my Broccoli the first time And had melted on the side of the skillet under the new batch of broccoli.
So now they gave us chicken that had been reheated up and was super Dry. We can tell by the way, that the skillet had all the original sauce baked onto it.
Instead of sizzling and able to move around the bottom cheese on the skillet like the original one had .
I brought it to simon's attention and let him know that we were not going to pay for the meals because of the poor experience and that we wanted to talk to the manager.
He said that the manager was too busy to come and talk to us that he was walking out plates to other tables when They weren't even that busy.
I told Simon that he said they were going to remake our meals and all they did was reheat. Our stuff and still took over 30 minutes to bring us something that they probably put in the microwave and acted like they refired it.
Once we told Simon that they never remade it, he looked shocked that I knew what they did.
The manager never came out And we waited for him An additional 15 minutes.
Simon said that we should have came in at a time That wasn't so busy and we would have had a better experience.
I could not believe that I heard this from our server. It was the most upsetting thing because we had nothing Negative to say about simon until he tried to cover up for the poor service that we received. Poor Simon is being led by poor leaders he had potential.
I don't think it matters What time we come in or how many customers there is, There shouldn't be an excuse for poor service Or poor quality food.
If we are paying for it, we deserve to receive what we pay for.
I believe the manager did not want to deal with hearing us. Tell him that they never refired the chicken.
I Spent a lot of time in the kitchen And I'm a chef myself And I can tell that the chicken was just reheated and not remade.
This is the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I want somebody to reach out to me. To make sure that this was heard or I will keep leaving negative reviews until somebody reaches out to me. Simon was polite and apologetic, manager did not care enough about our poor experience, simon was more concerned then the manager. Update 3/26/2024 Owner promised to reach out like u see below but he never did. Poor service starts...
Read moreBefore I get into it, here are the facts: this Applebees 1) violated state law, 2) has 4" cockroaches scurrying along the walls, 3) bullied our party of 10 (with two birthdays), and 4) called the cops on an octogenarian. // My sisters and I used to come to Applebees all the time! It was my oldest sister's birthday--and our nephew's birthday--and we hadn't been in years, so we decided to give it a try again. When we ordered our drinks, we noticed that we still had about a ten minute window before the close of happy hour. When I ordered, I did not want to mince words: I held up the happy hour menu and said "I'll have the happy hour pinot grigio." The server looked at his watch and said, "ok, we still have enough time left for happy hour." It took about 15-20 minutes for those drinks to arrive at our table. Appetizers were served about 20 minutes later. One appetizer was missing because the server said he "assumed we wanted it with our entres"...? All food is now on the table, we're ready to eat, and yet, not a single fork or napkin in sight. We request flatware and the server groans, complaining about his incompetent colleague. Ok. But then things get better—halfway through our meal we look up to see a 4" cockroach running across the wall next to us. I actually moved my plate out of the way for fear the bug would drop directly onto my buffalo wings. We yell. Someone comes and kills the bug. Whatever. We don't complain. Then the bill comes. I pay my portion, and when I'm writing in the tip I realize it seems like a lot and I look at the itemized list. Turns out my happy hour wine was NOT given to me at happy hour price. I was charged $11.25 for a drink that was labeled as and acknowledged by the server to be $4.00. I say something to the waiter. He heads to the back to speak with someone, comes back to our table and says because they already ran my card, all they can offer is a coupon. So I'm looking at this coupon and thinking of our friend the 4" cockroach when I ask to speak to the manager. The server cringes so deeply that I realize our 4" friend was only a harbinger of what was to come: Mari. I believe her name was Mari. Mari the manager. She comes out dragging her feet like she has something better to do than talk to our 10 top in an empty restaurant on a Wednesday night. It must be from her own personal hell that she finds the audacity to groan, eyes rolling, "We already served and poured the drink so we can't refund you." ??? My mind goes blank. ???? I must have asked her two more times ?? just to be sure ? that the business practice at this Applebees is to 1) offer happy hour prices, 2) agree to charge the customer happy hour prices, 3) pour and serve the drink, 4) charge the customer full price, 5) when the customer questions it, reiterate step 3 and look at them like they're an idiot for asking. Mari is already walking back to the kitchen when I come to terms with the fact that it's not worth the $7.25, but our octogenarian father, bless his heart, won't stand for this injustice. He stands up and follows Mari the Manager to state nothing more than the obvious: they've stolen from us. This Applebee's has stolen from us and when we pointed it out they barely said "sorry." Mari's response? She tells the patriarch of our family that she's called the cops on him! Truly, I've never been so disgusted in my life. Not even when I thought that 4" cockroach was going to tumble into my boneless buffalo wings. So we leave the establishment peacefully albeit a bit upset, as anyone would be. In sum, a long list of negative adjectives comes to mind to describe this God-forsaken Applebees, but I will save them for the Attorney General. This incident happened today,...
Read moreI never write reviews. I NEVER do this but i’m infuriated at the level of service from this Applebee’s Restaurant. I have been in Arizona for 9 of my 30 years and have been to just about every Applebee’s (Wetmore, Grant, Park Place etc) multiple times and have NEVER been treated or had my family treated the way we were this evening. It was not at all busy in the restaurant for it being Game 1 of the NBA finals. We were seated and I will say that was quick and at FIRST the host was friendly, however she made a weird comment about her 8 year old grandson dating my 3 year old daughter in the future. “I bet he’d like her she’s pretty”....Unacceptable!
Our waiter/server, Forrest, did not introduce himself and asked if we were ready to order drinks but did not offer appetizers or advise us that we could order our own appetizers through the kiosk. He instead took the time to bus a table behind us. Being efficient? Ok. He passed us for a table in front of us this time as they were getting ready to leave. That’s when my wife had to ask him if we could order appetizers, at which point he walked back to our table and tapped on the kiosk with his finger. He was friendly with the table in front of us as they were leaving. Passes us several times before finally bringing us our drinks. We were still looking at entrees and advised him of that. Not once did he come back to check and see if we wanted to order. Instead, a table that got seated in front of us, got their drink orders put in. He passed us several more times as he brought them their wines and other drinks and proceeded to talk with them. Again, not once did he stop at our table to see if we wanted to order. My wife, daughter and I sat there for 30 minutes and never saw our appetizers even hit the table. Forrest for some reason didn’t seem too thrilled to be serving us. I’ve never been so upset by the treatment of a restaurant.
Normally when we eat here we have no issues. Not sure what’s going on but the lack in customer service on a non busy night is super disappointing. Told Management on the way out. Management didn’t offer anything at the time or apologize. I had time to notice everything mentioned because we were not being served.
*At one point I asked them to change ONE TV to the game because they were all on a spelling bee. Forrest went to talk to the Manager and half of the TV’s changed. Not sure if that upset anyone or what the case may be. Might not be a loss to them that we won’t return but hopefully this review helps this to not happen again.
**My family and I drove to Buffalo Wild Wings and Fox and Hound but they were all packed. We decided on Applebee’s because they were not packed. We had to settle for fast food due to it being late and our daughter being irritable at that point. Myself as well.
*I am African American, my wife is hispanic and my daughter is mixed. I hope and pray race had nothing to do with it but Forrest being Caucasian, sure was talkative and friendly to the table before and while we were there, who also happened to be Caucasian families. Again, didn’t speak with us outside of the...
