The Golden Dragon on Sunrise has the absolute best chicken wings in Tucson. Often overlooked by local food writers who would rather follow the hype of new establishments that advertise themselves as more “authentic.” It seems a bit unfair that just because they have a generic name most of these blogs completely ignore them as if they haven’t been doing this for thirty years; they took a risk way before all these other places the blogs hype up. Talk to someone from New York and they might tell you that their favorite Chinese dish is wings with rice. The cook at the Sunrise location worked in New York ages ago and the delicious wings reflect that. Not every dish at every restaurant will be amazing, you just have to know what to order. I haven’t seen any blogs mention how great the wings are here but maybe it’s because they’re too busy writing uninspired articles about the same establishments over and over just like how television shows come to Tucson and film at the same restaurants every year. These food blogs don’t know any more about cuisine than you or I, and while their recommendations may be hit or miss, they are absolutely missing out by being biased and not exploring more dining options...
Read moreSince we moved to Tucson 14 yrs ago, this has always been our only choice for Chinese. The last time we ordered it looked and tasted like it was hastily thrown together. We thought maybe it was just an off day for them. I ordered take out lunch today and we were absolutely disappointed. $34 bucks for 2 very small Styrofoam trays. The rice was steamed at most no fried and the texture was that of microwave rice...yep I've tried that shortcut. Granular and mealy. Both the beef and broccoli and shrimp and vegetables came with chunks of raw vegetables. RAW...no tender crisp about them. I paid the extra for the Wonton soup and honestly...it was disgusting! Flavorless broth with a little cabbage thrown in and THE WORST wonton I have ever had! In addition, I ordered an extra egg roll appetizer, which turned out to be 2 finger size vegetable rolls. We're done here. This place is circling the drain in our opinion. Charging high prices for far less than the value of portion or...
Read moreAwful Food Awful Service. I got there about 20 minutes before closing and was so hurried through the meal I left before the stated closing time of 9. My server rushed me to order. I understand to a point that they want off but.... I was willing to accommodate so I chose the "Chefs Recommendation" Pork with Satay Sauce BBQ Pork. It was delivered to my table about a minute after I ordered it. The "Steamed Rice" was fresh out of the microwave, crispy on the outside and dry inside and too hot to handle. The dish was supposed to be hot and spicy and I asked for extra hot. To say this stuff was bland would be a compliment. I have had frozen dinners with way more appeal. And I mean the cheap kind. I had just started my meal when the server dropped the check. I left asking them not to box up the dish I had hardly touched. I just hope the ally cat that got...
