Food Quality: Subway Food Price: Jersey Mikes
In what world is this a $14 sandwich? The bread is oddly spongy and soft like gas station or Walmart subs. The meat appears to be pre cooked from a container somewhat like Chipotle. Basic white American cheese which I expect on a Philly, but then no onions or peppers? Most redeeming quality of the sandwich is the mushrooms. And what kind of sandwich place doesn't have mayo as a condiment? I will add that I did not get the most popular sandwich due to pricing, but I got a very classic and simple sandwich.
The sandwich was run through a conveyor oven like at Quiznos separately from the mushrooms which were wrapped in a tin foil and then drained over the sink or trash can after cooking before being placed on the sandwich. I managed a Jersey Mikes for 2 years so it is odd seeing this deconstructed process of making a simple sandwich when you do not have a flat top to cook hot sandwiches to order.
Overall, I would say the quality of the business and customer service combined was a 4/5. The staff was kind and answered my questions. I also know they have no control over pricing or food sourcing so I would not blame them for those flaws. My advice would be to find a different sandwich place if you value your money. Everything is becoming more expensive and I realize that makes it more expensive for the business owners, but you must find ways to enhance quality in the food if you are going to charge competitive or more expensive price points.
(For reference, I added the mayo from a packet they gave me to try and inspire some kind of tangy flavor from the plain...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really want to love this place, so many choices .. but we may have to pass next time. Our first experience was great (but they forgot the Lollypops). We all loved our sandwiches. Next visit, we tried a pick-up order. Sandwiches were ready on time, all tasted "OK" but they forgot the Lollypops again. Third try, each time four of us trying different sandwiches, we all didn't finish. They just were not as good as the first round. The signature bread is good, but the Sourdough is just not Sourdough. And yes, no Lollypops on this run either, said they were all out. WHAT? If that's one of your signature items with a sandwich; this should never happen.
I really like the variety, but the last sandwich left me sick to my stomach .. twice. I ate half and didn't feel good right after eating it. I thought maybe it wasn't the sandwich and put the other half in the fridge. Ate it the next day and it got me again. We may be looking elsewhere next time. For the $50+ price tag for four sandwiches, no chips or drink. It's just not worth it right now. 2 for one day or coupon .. we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo first, the people that work there are as nice as can be. There's a massive amount of subs on their menu, which makes it a little overwhelming when you order for the first time. Sasa who was at the register was very helpful and patient which I really appreciated.
The sub itself is very tasty. The sourdough bread was delicious, the veggies fresh and the sauces that Sasa recommended were AWESOME.
Having said that, the amount of actual meat that got put on my sub was borderline insulting. When a sub costs almost $15 I expect more than 1 slice of each meat on it. I wound up taking the meat off of one half and putting it on the other and it still felt extremely light on protein.
I will try this place again with a different sub and really hope this was a one off, because I LOVE subs and I really want to like this place. For now I give the sub a 3/5 and the service a 5/5.. ultimately its just not worth the price for the amount of protein...
