George’s in Appleton, WI! #georges #supperclub #appleton #wi #wisco #wisconsin #oldfashioned #steak

Was a great supper club! Waitress and bartender were both very friendly and helpful. My wife was very excited by the oil lamp over the bar said she hadn't see one since her grandmother was alive. Definitely one thing I enjoy most is the memories that a supper club can bring back. It's a visit like this one that I'm glad my wife let's me try her food as well. I ordered ribeye, perch, potato skins. My first mistake was not asking for sour cream too dip the potatoes in. The potatoes were well cooked and had flavor, just needed a little more. The perch with a little lemon and tarter sauce were spot on. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and tender. It just lacked that wow factor, needed some more flavors. Which is the main reason it isn't a 5 star place for me. My wife's dish had more flavor but still not enough to convince me. She had tenderloin, scallops, Al gratin potatoes. Again well cooked steak, little more flavor. The scallops were broiled with a butter sauce that added great flavors. The star of her meal for me were the potatoes! Awesome!

The greeter and bartender had amazing customer service. The waitress was stressed and seemed to be rushed. I would have loved to have given more stars.. The food, while had an amazing presentation, had very little flavor to it at all. I ordered a tenderloin and scallops. My spouse a tenderloin with broiled shrimp.. The scallops were definitely not fresh, but frozen. While said to be broiled, both the scallops and shrimp were boiled in butter. I ordered scallop potatoes and received what could be called Julienne, but I suspect that it may have been part of my spouses hashbrowns with cheese sauce added. The best thing to have gotten was an amazing "Loaded potato" soup, very well done potato chowder. My hat off to whom ever sautéed the mushroom and onions that we requested for our steaks. Even though they were just soy sauce and butter, it definitely saved the steak and was done perfectly. The pictures were taken mid meal and do not do the presentation any justice.

I have to give this Restaurant 3 stars only because of my 2nd visit there. 1st visit got 4 stars went there for dinner. I ordered a $25 steak dinner it was delicious the atmosphere was pleasant and the service was outstanding but the coke I ordered had a nasty taste so don't order one if you chance on going there after my review. Also the building had a odd musky smell. Same on my 2nd trip there the building has a bad smell and we ordered water instead of sodas. On my 2nd visit 3 days later on July 5th for lunch the waitress started out great until she got a table of 6 and then she completely forgot about my daughter and I luckily we had nothing to do that day because after we finished our meal we waited and waited for her to return to our table. We ended up getting our own to go boxes for the 1/2 steaks we couldn't finish, thinking that after she saw us doing this she'd bring us the check so we could pay. Nope she took another 40 minutes and finally we stopped her long enough to ask for it well that took another 15 or more minutes to bring us the bill and we sat and sat waiting for her to return for our money probably another 30 or 40 minutes I even acted like I was falling asleep. Even other waitresses saw us just sitting there you'd think they would take over and give us a bit of their time I mean other than my daughter and I and the 6 others at the other table oh and there was a couple behind me, (they to was forgotten and just as invisible as we were) they came in before the other 6 got there that was the only people I saw in the Restaurant. Oh there was an older gentleman sitting at the bar but he I believe was the owner or another worker for I saw him come out of the kitchen. It was as if we were invisible. I had sat there SOooo Looong that I needed to use the restroom then my daughter went to the restroom still our waitress did not return to our table we sat there probably another 20minutes then I decided this was all I could take. So we went to the bar the older gentleman was still sitting there and asked if we could pay our bill. He said the bartender would be right back soon after the bartender gal came along and collected our money. The waitress did not get a tip from me and my daughter didn't give her one either. We were both willing to tip her $6 a piece thats a $12 tip she lost out on. It sucks because my 1st trip there I went alone and I had bragged about this Restaurant to my daughter so much and had convinced her to go for lunch because other than the odd musky smell and bad soda, the steak dinner was delicious and then this happened.😫 We most probably won't be back we just moved here from Arkansas and we're trying out the local Restaurants so hopefully our next Steakhouse we try will become...

2nd time here and this time was only because of a family event. The first time we were here we said we'd never come back because of the over priced and poor quality food, tonight was a repeat of the same. The food is far from good, it's way overpriced for the overall experience, and our orders were wrong.

You walk in the front door and it stinks like someone dropped a load in the corner and instead of picking it up they just burried it in moth balls. I have pictures of Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares" going through my mind.

My wife ordered breaded shrimp and tenderloin, the shrimp was served broiled.

My daughter ordered breaded scallops, those also were served broiled. And with a butter wine sauce on them that broke down where some of it was thick and some of it was watery. The sauce really ruined the scallops besides the fact it wasn't what she ordered.

I ordered a steak medium rare and it was served medium well and was pretty much flavorless, there was no sear on the steaks at all.

The croutons on the salads were soggy, not quite mushy, but not even close to crunchy. I have 4 month old croutons at home that are twice as good as these. Cold dinner rolls, etc.

I think when you're paying $26 for a meal they should get the orders right and serve something besides the soup that has some flavor. I can not believe the overall rating for this place is 4.5 stars. Anyone rating this above a 2 has obviously never had a great meal to...

My 3 stars are due to the experience we had with our server.

Highly recommend reservations, several parties came in and were told 2-2.5 hour wait without one.

We made an early reservation for Saturday. Our first visit to George's after hearing raving reviews. Our first impressions weren't bad, a nice supper club.

The bartender was nice and the drinks we had while we waited for our table were good. We felt a tad out of place as it was clear we were not part of the regular crowd at the bar.

Once seated our server was friendly and we ordered right away. Cracker basket with liver paste and cheese bread in cups were good. Dumpling soup and salads were good too.

We got our entrees and noticed quickly the steak was under done per our request, not a huge deal but shortly after opening I'd think the kitchen would be on it's game a little more. Aside that everything was very good, although we only saw our server once more after she dropped off our food.

We watched as she gave attention to tables with larger parties. We debated dessert but quickly decided against it as we weren't sure how long we would be waiting. After arriving to clear the table, it was a 10 minute wait to receive our check to which I just handed my card right away. Another 5-10 minute wait to get my card back. I understand it's a busy place, but other servers seemed to be more ontop of things than ours.

We will return and we recommend George's for a...
