We like their pizza, but after this last encounter with the manager or owner, not planning on returning. We live 2 hours away and found their pizza a few years ago by accident . Since then, we try to stop in anytime we are in the area. The older guy behind the counter has been rude and condescending before, but we just blew it off. After dealing with him again tonight, I will find another pizza place. Eating out is supposed to be enjoyable. Dealing with this guy to get a pizza isn’t worth it.
Response from the owner 5 days ago First I would like to thank our amazing staff for doing a superb at taking care of our wonderful customers. Especially customers like John and Terry who drive all the way from Elkhart lake to enjoy their Hawaiian Deep Dish. Or maybe Kevin who drives all the way from Rhinelander to pick up his calzones. Truly amazing people who always treat our staff with respect. I also want to thank our staff for having to deal with terribly rude customers like Steve. Steve called and wanted to order dine in over the phone. When our 16 yr old staff member explained to Steve that we have a strict policy about not taking dine in orders over the phone. Steve told her that he would just take his carryout order into the dining room. Our employee again explained to Steve that was not an option. Steve insists. She explains our policy to him again. Steve says fine I will just order carryout then. Then Steve and his wife show up and try to tell me that he plans to disregard our policy that has been explained to him 3 times. We have our policies for a reason. We wouldn't change them for our best customers. We certainly will not going to change them for someone who disrespects our staff and who was obnoxiously rude to 16 year old girl just trying to do her job. I personally can take a lot of abuse from customers. I will never allow anyone to treat our employees the way Steve did. So yes I was stern and direct with Steve. Steve then goes home and decides to write a negative review without any context. Go figure? However Steve is correct. Eating out is supposed to be enjoyable. Also working in a restaurant is supposed to be enjoyable. Knowing that Steve will not be returning. Increases the chances of our employees having a great day as well all our wonderful customers.
That is a very interesting response to my review. The majority of it is fiction, but interesting nonetheless. I can see how you didn’t understand the situation as you weren’t on the phone when I spoke to your 16 year old employee, who by the way was great. She was very polite and when I requested to place an order to go, but eat in the restaurant she did explain that was not possible. No problem, we are 10 minutes away so I requested to place our order to eat in the restaurant (not to go) so we could get our food faster and get back on the road to go home 2 hours away. She said ok and took our order. My interaction with her was pleasant. Not anything like you described. 🙄BTW, It is nice to hear you stand up and protect your employees, if that part is actually true. I hope it is. Everything was great until we arrived and I had the misfortune of speaking with you. Instead of asking questions to clear up any misunderstanding, like any responsible manager or business owner would do, you assumed what you wanted and proceeded to treat my wife and I with disrespect and admonish us. I never tried to get around your policy, and certainly never told you I was trying to. If you hadn’t acted like a child having a temper tantrum and talked with me to explain where the problem was, we would have been happy to sit in the restaurant and place our order. I stand firmly by my original review, but want to clarify so you cant change the facts again. With every interaction I have had with your staff, they have been great, EVERY TIME! The only issue, has been how you behaved, and your response to my review shows it. Take care of the customers you referenced, because if you treat them like you treated us, they won’t be customers...
Read moreShort version - Incredibly delicious gourmet pizza, clean and well organized (including the bathrooms), and incredibly friendly staff – what else is there?
Long version -- Today we stopped into Stuc’s, because my wife and I simply had a hankering for pizza; we live in Sherwood, so that ought to tell you a lot already (because there are LOTS of pizza places between my place and Stuc’s. Jason, the owner, took our order; he and the other associate were as friendly as can be, and both wore masks the entire time we were there. We ordered a 16” “Baron” pizza and took our seats. About 25 minutes later Jason came out with our pizza and said, “here you go Joe” … the whole using your name is always a nice touch:) The pizza looked incredible, everything on the top cooked well and cheese completely melted and the bottom was this perfect golden brown that resulted in us being able to simply pick it up by the slice and eat it (unlike other pizza’s I’ve had that the bottom is so undercooked that the slice is droopy and you can’t even lift it without everything falling off of it (personal preference I suppose). As for how it tasted? Well, let’s just say that it was in the top three pizzas I’ve had in the entire world (including Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, and nearly all of Central and South America.) I could most literally taste every ingredient that I saw on the pizza, which is the reason you buy toppings, right? The pizza was perfect. If you’re in a hurry or generally an impatient person, pay and order ahead, so your pizza is nearly ready when you get there – if your primary motivator is speed, not taste, save everyone some grief and go somewhere else. In all, our experience at this Stuc’s today was flawless; we’ll continue to go well out of our way to get our pizza here. To Jason and crew, well done; you should be proud of what you’ve built. Our group enjoyed their pizza on two occasions. The first one was carry out. The second one was dining in - both times the food was made to perfection. We all ordered their classic crust with a variety of toppings. Each one tasted simply fresh delicious & scrumptious.
Their new restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The floor is the most incredibly divine floor I’ve ever seen in my life -seriously! Zoinks!! It looks like a combination of spun gold, and art you’d find in a museum!!! Ahhh!
This restaurant is meticulously clean. Everyone is friendly. It has plenty of seating for large groups and even a bar. Their bathroom was spotless. Can’t say enough about this particular location and this particular pizza place. If you’re looking for great ZA I highly recommend trying Stucs Pizza on American Drive and the new strip mall.. Thank you again to the staff and hugs to Ashley. See you all...
