If you want to have some authentic Chongqing or Sichuan style hotpot in NJ, this is where you go. You may have had some “general hotpot” in the area. But originally, hotpot style and flavor vary from region to region in China based on climate or culture etc. I come from the northeast so the hotpot I used to eat is more impacted by Beijing lamb hotpot style which originally will be healthy and nutritious vibes. Don’t get me wrong, it is savory and it is also authentic, but it won’t be as ‘authentic’ as what hotpot is being imagined (I mean stereotypically).
I’m not a hotpot pro, nor I am from any of the hometowns of hotpot. But here in Morals Village, you will get that satisfaction of the traditional authenticity if you like spicy food and curious about what is hotpot.
The meat combo or beef dishes are a must if you are meat lover. Shrimp paste, fried dough, and all sorts of tofu products are our favorites as well. Try the plum juice if you get the beef oil (spicy) broth, it cools you down. And yes, big pot with 2 flavors is recommended if you want one spicy and one non-spicy. Our safe option is beef oil + the bone broth. Ask the staffs, they know the best!
I am not just excited to write reviews to rate something. I tend to be more motivated by convincing more people to try hotpot first time or 2nd time (if first experience wasn’t...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews and when I do I always try to rate well but this was not the case. This had to be the worst dining experience I have ever had. We came in and asked how their menu worked and no one seems to give us a proper answer so we just winged it. We ordered the broth base and just left it at that. Soon after they gave us the broth they brought out some food to cook in it in. We asked the waitress if this food came with the broth and they just nodded. When we asked for the check they said they made a mistake and gave us the another table's food. For some reason they failed to mention that to us prior. I don't understand how the other table didn't question why they didn't get their food or why the staff failed to say anything as we were there for some time. We thought we would be spending around $20 as we didn't actually order much. They insisted we pay for the food we did not order, which was over $100. We ended up talking to the manager and they seemed to try and make it out to be our fault for just accepting their food, even though we had asked before if this was included with what we ordered. I will never be coming back to this establishment again and advise you all...

Prices are very reasonable and the quality of the meals was great--have been a repeat visitor going on 4 trips now. I've tried a number of other hot pot places over the years and Morals Village is, hands-down, one of, if not the best, hot pot restaurants in the NYC Metro area. I'm betting you'll love it too, so give it a try if you're still on the fence. Just err on the side of caution and turn down the spiciness level unless you're ready to challenge your taste buds. Bring your appetite and...
