BEWARE IF USING CASH! I visited IHOP today for a To-Go order and paid with cash. The total was $36.31 (see attached receipts). I paid with a $50.00 bill and received a $13.00 change. The employee walked away. When I asked about the remaining change, she stated, "We don't give out change." There was no signage regarding this policy, nor was I informed or asked if I had the 31 cents. I asked another employee for the manager and was told there was no manager today. I then asked for the person in charge. Another woman came to the front and identified herself as the manager. I explained the situation and that I supplied the 31 cents when given the opportunity. My problem with this situation is IHOP's casual approach to taking advantage of the customer. A multi-million dollar company is stealing change from their customers? How much does that yield at the end of the year? If they do not want to deal with change, a sign should be posted to inform the public and request the exact amount be tendered for cash purchases. If IHOP does not want to deal with the issue of coin change, why not round the amount down to the whole dollar amount (for example, $36.00) allowing IHOP to take the hit instead of the customer being disadvantaged? The amount in question may not seem like much; however, simply, it belonged to me, not IHOP. Money should not be just taken without any explanation or option provided. Isn't that stealing? I have researched state law and found no evidence this practice is legal. I have also forwarded this concern to my senator and the attorney general of NJ. The food was good and I have not had a previous negative experience at this location.

Do NOT ORDER OR EAT AT IHOP. Ordered delivery again, and as usual, they leave out stuff even though you've paid. This time no butter on toast and no hashbrowns. The Omelette they just slapped slice cheese and tomatoes and 5 mushrooms on top not inside hardly any veggies except all spinach. And that spinach isn't even chopped just large pieces of spinach. This isn't an Omelette. Horrible cook.Tastes horrible too. Wasted money again. They shpuld close or get a real cook. Not just anyone feom street to save money. They stealing all of our money by giving crappy food. Last time was Soggy toast, requested buttered, but it's not. Soggy Strawberry Cheesecake Waffle with the Cheesecake sauce just drizzled with few strawberries. Did not give syrups paid for only gave 2 old fashion syrup. And ok, so the Omelette huge seems like made with 6 eggs or so, mostly covered with spinach, Tastes ok, not that good at all. No wonder most IHop restaurants going out of business. Used to love IHop. This order wasn't worth the $44. After tip.

I asked for an egg white omelet with green pepper and onions, and mushroom toppings with cheddar cheese from the build your own omelet section. The server came back with the regular omelet. I told him I had asked for egg white. After sometime, I get some kind of a mush with cheese sprinkles on it (pic below). It is ridiculous after 40-45 min the food is not even appetizing. Next, when came the time for the check, the server bills green peppers and onions as separate toppings. I told him they are one topping but he kept arguing they are two. I even showed him in the menu that they cost only 99 cents but he still kept arguing until some other server came in and told him it is one topping. It is not about 99 cents , it is about the quality at this place. It is simply appalling. Hope the owner sees this review and takes some action.

Service was horrible. It started out well being seated immediately, but then I sat at the table for 7 minutes before asking the hostess how long it would take to me to get a waiter. Within 2 minute my waiter arrived and asked me if I wanted anything to drink, I kindly ordered my food and drink. Chicken Fajita (salsa on the side) Omlete w/ Pancakes, a large Chocolate Milk and 2 Sausages. The waiter did not write anything down, and proceeded to the kitchen. He brought back my chocolate milk promptly. A while went by as you would expect for food at any resturant on a Sunday morning. He then brought out part of my food, the Omlete and pancakes, but not the sausage. At the time my Omlete was warm. I asked him where my sausage and salsa were and he said he would bring them right out. 12 minutes wentry by before I asked the hosted for my waiter again, then the owner came by to talk to the table across from me who was having issues with the same waiter [family of 4: brought out the youngest daughter'so food after they all finished eating]. The owner then asked me how everything was going, and I explained to him that I was still waiting on parts of my meal, and that my Omlete was now cold, and if you know anything about eggs, they don't hold heat well. He offered to get me another one, but I didn't have time to wait. So anyway I ate my cold Omlete and pancakes and sausage. Then organized my plates in a fashion that was easy to clean up. It took about 5 minutes for him go come back out and pick up my plates, and give me a receipt. When at the counter to pay I asked to speak to the manager Rick, who is actually the owner. I explained to him the situation, again and how it's not acceptable and asked him to get the waiter a pad so that he doesn't forget orders, then Rick scolded me and said he offered me another plate but I didn't want it. Now, the most valuable thing to me is time, so being that I didn't have extra time to wait I declined. I then proceeded to the issue of the temperature of the food, I use to work in the food service industry, so I know my food shouldn't have been Luke warm when it arrived at my table. He then argued with me on that. So finally I'm paying my bill which is $16 and some change, and I leave the waiter a $5 tip, out of habit and respect for the industry not the service in general. Then Rick decided he wanted to argue with me about that. Mind you I didn't ask for or receive a discount, or anything So from that I believe more so than anything there's a management issue. First of all I don't know if the issues were all the waiters fault, however, even with the issues he was never unpleasant, however the manager was.

So to this I say, the IHOP on Easton Avenue in Somerset, NJ doesn't value your time, so I would suggest taking the little bit of extra time to drive to another...

I would say if you want to go to this restaurant, which is just a regular mediocre, pancake nothing too crazy. I would suggest that you bring the exact amount of change to pay for your food or use debit or credit card because they will keep your change. I will not be returning back to this place because of an incident today it may not be a big deal to other people but we all work hard for our money and I’m not going to just give it up without my consent. For example, I called to get pancakes and it came out to $7.45. I gave her 8, So she takes the money and says oh have a great day. Granted I was currently looking at emails I wasn’t paying attention and that was my mistake on that part so I start to leave then I turned around. I tell her I would like my change and I want the receipt. She said we don’t have any coins to give change back. The only thing that was annoying about this is that you took the money you should’ve said hey Miss, just let you know we don’t have coin change to give you the difference that we owe you if you pay cash that way you give me an option to either go back to my car and get some thing or just use a card . I remember this happening one other time and I just thought it was a random thing. I haven’t been there in a while so it’s safe to say I see this is their style they don’t have change or barely. Also, the pancakes weren’t even that great. They were dry on the inside and too thick. So imagine the amount of people that are paying cash and can’t get any of their change back not dollars just the coins that’s still adds up when they have a busy service for 8 to 10 hours a day. Again, like I said in the beginning, it may not be a big deal to other people, but it is to me because I work hard for my money and I’m not just throwing it away like...

Went to breakfast there with my sister this morning around 10:30am. It wasn't busy so we were seated quickly. Both placed our orders at the same time; however, my sister's order was delayed by about 10-15 mins. I was 75% done with my meal when her order finally came out- and it was wrong. Our waitress, Consuela, messed up her order twice and blamed the mess up on my sister stating she changed her mind last minute- a blatant lie. Asked for the manager (Rich- who was also the owner). We explained the disappointment of the delayed order. He asked what we wanted him to do. We requested for her meal to be comped but he said he couldn't do that but offered a discount for her meal. That was unsatisfactory so we returned the meal and asked for the check. He comes back a couple of minutes later and offers to give her a to go order at no charge. DUH! That's what we asked for in the first place but he was playing hardball. We now go to pay for my order and Consuela charged me incorrectly- separate charge for each item (french toast, eggs, and bacon) when I asked and pointed to the combo meal- guess i paid for the free "to go" meal after all. The manager/owner came ro the register and i tried to explain the error on the check but it fell on deaf ears and he was completely unreasonable so I just paid the bill and clearly let him know this would be our last visit. Long and short, choose another ihop location or a diner. The poor customer service starts from the very top and rolls down to the staff. I don't recall having such terrible service when I visited 1-2 years ago... Rich (manager/owner) and our waitress (Consuela) were unprofessional and untrained to deliver the minimum quality customer service. My family and I definitely will...
