I can’t even begin to tell you how pleased I was at this restaurant. We found them after being completely dissatisfied with the food and service at Cleavers, and after becoming fed up with them when what I assumed their signature dessert was not available, particularly after being told that my main course and side of choices were not available either. We did a quick Google search for restaurants in the area that may serve dessert, and found a picture of chocolate cake on this places page, and realized we can get in the door just before closing if we hurried.
I’m quite happy that we did. We were greeted at the door by the owner, who was extremely pleasant and full of smiles. We were taken to our seats in a very comfortable environment with nice decor and lighting seemingly aimed as setting a romantic mood, though that’s not what we were there for in particular. Our extraordinary server swung by the table to outline the evening’s specials and take drink orders, and I was sorry to have to inform him that we were only there for dessert after hearing what they had to offer. How unfortunate to have just left a completely dissatisfying dinner experience elsewhere!
So, dessert it was, and what a selection! A dessert tray was brought out that had a wonderful menagerie of options, and a couple samples of wine were brought which we promptly ordered. Dark chocolate cake and rum cake Word wonderfully decadent, and must have been prepared by Satan himself as they were certainly one of the deadly sins.
I truly wish I’d had the opportunity to return to this restaurant before leaving town, as surely they would have saved me from the disappointment I got at other local restaurants. The only thing I could ask for was that they add chilled dessert wines to the menu, mainly ice wines from the Niagara region. That would have gone so well with dessert. Overall, two thumbs way up and a pat on the...
Read moreMy review 1 year ago: i gave it 5 stars: The garlic rolls are out of this world. The food is high class. Price is right there with olive gardens or any name brand restaurant. Atmosphere is average. Hostess did not smile though, she just took us to the seat. We will return!
We returned a year later, on 03/09/18 and there are some major changes. The waiter was rude, uninterested in his job and us. My husband and I had to ask for water for our table. The Salad was brought and a fine one, it comes with three selections of dressings. Then comes the famous garlic rolls which should have when warm freshly baked yeast rolls placed in a bowl with olive oil and fresh garlic chunks. Nope, not this time. They were yesterday's leftovers, hard as a rock. I asked the waiter about them so he asked the tables around us if their rolls are hard! I couldn't believe it. He didn't even take the rolls from the table either. The spaghetti was good. The meat ball use to fit in the palm of your hand. The one we got was just like the frozen ones in walmart and the same size: little golf ball. After delivering the entree the waiter didn't come back and ask if we wanted any fresh cheese over our meal. After a while he passed our table and dropped off a jar of shaker cheese and continued on. Oh, and about the rolls, the waiter finally took the rolls (3) to the back and then came back with 3 warm rolls that were just as hard. I'm just about sure they were the same ones. We never did get plates for the rolls. Two other times we went there were good. I don't know what happened with the family or if they sold but our experience was horrible. And yes the hostess, who is the daughter of the family, isn't the friendliest person. With her personality she should work in the back. We will find another Italian restaurant and not pay for this type of a night out. WORST waiter ever! He would have been good for a...
Read moreUnfortunately, I was extremely disappointed in this restaurant. My boyfriend and I decided to go here for my birthday dinner, and I will never go back. First off, we had to wait about an hour to be seated. This was to be expected, as it was Fourth of July weekend, but after waiting this long you expect amazing food. The house salad seemed pretty good, but the dressings and toppings weren't to my liking. The house garlic rolls were awful. There was WAY too much garlic on the rolls, but that wasn't the worst part. The rolls were so hard it felt like you were eating a really large crouton. Since I didn't eat the salad or the rolls and had waited another half hour, I was more than ready for my meal. I had ordered the restaurant's take on chicken parmesan and my boyfriend ordered a scallop linguine dish. Both were terrible. You couldn't even tell what was on my plate when it first arrived due to the extreme amount of tomato sauce poured over everything. When I tasted the chicken, it had a texture similar to a sponge. My boyfriend's scallops were so hard he couldn't eat them and the noodles were extremely overcooked. Needless to say, my first experience with an Italian restaurant did not go very well. I don't know if this was just an "off" night for the staff, but I do not advise you spending...
