I normally tolerate situations at restaurants. I was in the industry for 7+ years so I understand things happen. But, this was bad. My gf and I came in Saturday night roughly 7:50pm. We were sat around 8:10? There were 2 couples ahead of us waiting to be sat. The restaurant didn't seem to busy, which to be fair, it's late spring in Franklin, NC. The tourists are not full fledged here yet. We were sat and our waitress came shortly after. I got water and she got a sweet tea. We decided to order an appetizer which were jalapeno, cheese and rice balls. The waitress placed the order, came back about 5 minutes later. Took our entrée order. The appetizer came shortly after. Everything was good besides the ranch was so salty. It made my lips pucker. My girlfriend ordered the sirloin special with 2 side salads. I ordered the surf n turf special with mac n cheese and season veggies. We were waiting quite a long time considering there weren't to many tables in the building left. We noticed other food coming out. Not ours. Our waitress came by got a refill on our drinks and said our dinner should be coming out soon. At that point, I placed a to-go order thinking that would be a good time. It will come out shortly after our dinner. We kept waiting for our dinner. A different server came by since our waitress hadn't been by for a while and we hadn't seen her walking around for a bit. He asked if we were waiting on a check or dessert, etc. We said, no. We haven't got our dinner yet. He said let me go check on that for you. About 5-10 minutes later a food runner brought our to-go order. She asked if we needed anything else. I said, yes our dinner. We still never got it. She had a shocked look on her face. I told my girlfriend, I wanted to leave then and there. It was roughly 8:50-9pm. We should of had our dinner long before this, sirloins' don't take long to cook. She convinced me to stay since nothing else was going to be open. Our server still had never came by. Shortly after the owner/manager came by. Apologized, saying she believed our dinner was given to different guest. She was going to cover it and get our dinner out. She came back out a few minutes later clarifying what we ordered. I told her what we got, she offered baked potato and a side salad. I said I ordered the Mac n cheese/ veggies. She said " I wouldn't recommend the mac n cheese at this time, it's been sitting out for a while and I wouldn't get that." I said, okay baked potato it is. The 2 food runners came out about 5 minutes later with 2 side salads, with ranch. When my girlfriend asked for balsamic originally. So, they ran and got that. 10+ minutes later our food finally came out. I got a baked potato and the veggies. Which, I wasn't expecting since they gave me a side salad. My girlfriend just had the steak. She said, I was supposed to get a baked potato as well. They again, walked away and a few minutes later brought a potato with bacon and cheddar on it. This whole time, we didn't see our server for roughly.. an hour? My girlfriend noticed the food runners staring at us while we ate laughing at us? If I would have noticed, I would have said something. So unprofessional. She finally comes back to give us the bill. Which, I expected this to be comped since it is not almost an hour after closing. She offered a 15% discount. I said, I think we deserve more then that. She placed another discount, equaling $21. At this point I just wanted to get out of the restaurant. I reluctantly paid. The whole time the music being played was like tiktok radio or something, it was odd. All in all the only good thing about our evening was when the steak finally showed up, it was cooked right and it tasted good. Considering this is a sister location to Gracious Plates, I was expecting a better experience. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had a restaurant in and out of Franklin. I'm not one to complain, I understand things happen and hiccups are made. This was bad. If I come back, it will be at the bare minimum a year from now. 1/10 experience. Do...
Read moreBased on the other comments, I hope that our experience was an exception to what is normal to the generally positive reviews here. We ate there Saturday for a mother's day dinner. While browsing the menus, I mentioned to my wife that there were specials on the chalkboard and went to take a picture of it to show her (the waiter never mentioned any specials). My wife wound up ordering the special and I ordered the meatball sandwich and my daughter ordered the French fries appetizer for a meal. We also ordered the boneless chicken wings as an appetizer. While waiting for the appetizer, my wife realized the waiter never asked how she wanted her steak cooked. I had to look around to find out waiter and another member of the wait staff was able to find him and send him to the table to clarify our order. Our boneless wings came out and were tasty (although chicken nuggets would be a much more apt description). The thing that was very off-putting was the brown and rubber celery along with some rubber slices of carrots. I mentioned it to the waiter and he even said that should have never left the kitchen. If I were the owner, I would be irate if I knew food in that condition made its way to the table. Our entrees came to the table and the servers just stood there staring at us holding our dishes without saying anything and with a thumb in the dish squashing a french fry. Once we told them who had what, we were served. I looked at my meatball sub and asked "isn't this supposed to come with cheese?". The server said they didn't know, they only are told to bring the food to the table. They said they could take the sub back and find out about the cheese. They returned a minute later with dry parmesan sprinkled on the sandwich. It wasn't baked or melted as you would expect cheese to be on a sub. It was just sprinkled on like the afterthought it was. The sauce and meatball was tasty and my wife said the steak was ok. The Mac and cheese side was inedible. It tasted like the cheese was fermented (I don't know if that is possible) or bad. Everything else was good but nothing too noteworthy. The restaurant was neat and clean and the staff was friendly but they need a tremendous amount of training or the initiative or common sense to see brown celery, a sub without cheese, or an incomplete steak order should be addressed and changed. We understand that the restaurant is newly opened and that there will be some hiccups. It must be difficult to organize and get everything running smoothly but the issues we had at the restaurant should be some of the most basic covered in restaurant service. We wanted to write this review so the owner can review and address some of their operating procedures and standards before it becomes so problematic that it damages their reputation and business. We wish them the best of luck moving forward but will...
Read moreWe came in on Monday at 5pm. Our server was great but she could have been a bit more attentive and at the end of the meal it took forever to get our check. Considering The restaurant was almost empty, the service should have been much better. We spent 0ver $70 for 2 people and sadly the only things i enjoyed were the side salad and French onion soup. Sadly they were out of steaks except for the tougher cuts. (Sirloin and NY Strip) Unexceptable. Saldy there isn't even a Filet Mignon on the menu... Only Filet medallions (way to go cheap!) i ended up ordering the Salmon with a veg. Medley and seasoned rice. My Girlfriend ordered the crabcakes with a baked potato and mixed fruit. The Salmon was burnt on the top, the skin was left on the salmon and it had absolutely no flavor, even with the bourbon glaze. No taste! With the skin on and the lack of flavor, its a clear indication that salmon isnt fresh but from a freezer. The veg. Medley was mushy and over seasoned. The seasoned rice looked to be multiple days old but could have also been just severely over cooked. It was mush no individual kernels of rice. The crabcakes weren't even close to being cooked properly. The flavor was good though, so we brought them home to finish cooking them.... It was simply warmed in a pan. It was just as mushy on the outside as the inside. We expected for them to at least be crispy on the outside... The Baked potato was decent but it was small overcooked. The mixed fruit, is clearly out of a 5 gallon bucket and full of preservatives. Which is not the end of the world but at least drain the juice.... We dont expect fresh fruit but presentation matters and there was just as much juice in the bowl as there was fruit. We also ordered the fried avocado appetizer, My Girlfriend enjoyed it but i didn't. It was simple but nothing to write home about. I will end on somewhat of a positive note. I ordered a cup of french onion soup. (My Favorite kind of soup) It was great! Almost too good, like it was from a bag.. That or the only thing the Chef cares about is the soup... And i was given a teaspoon to eat it with. Asked for a bigger spoon and sadly thats all you guys have... We may give you all another chance in the future but we will definitely give you all some time to hopefully get better! And we will call in advance to make sure you have steaks. Putting an actual Filet on your menu would go a long way. Filets medallions are usually inconsistently cooked in most restaurants. If that's the level of food you're going to serve, lower your prices! I don't fully blame the cooks for the qaulity of food. Sadly, it seems they aren't being given much to work with. Its not fair to the cooks to give them cheap ingredients and expect exceptional food to come out of...
