I tried this place because a friend said it was pretty good. I stopped for breakfast and was met at the door by a waitress, who asked if my party wanted the buffet or menu order. I perused the buffet and while there was a large selection, I wasn't overwhelmed by the presentation. I asked the price of the buffet and was told $12-13. I thought that was a little high for a simple breakfast so chose the menu. Limited choices. I chose the simplest option. Two eggs, bacon, "home fries", biscuit and a cup of coffee. I am particular about my food, and when asked how I wanted my eggs, I answered, "whites solid, yoke liquid." I then requested that the potatoes be fried "extra well done, and crispy." My companions each got an omelet, and seemed quite happy with their food. When my plate arrived, I noted that my potatoes looked identical to those of my wife's. Very close comparison showed mine seemed slightly darker tan than hers. When I ate a few, they were warm, but far from hot, and kind or chewy, not at all crisp. When I opened the egg yolks the were almost solid. The biscuit was small but edible. When I picked up the "buttery spread" for the biscuit, none of the ingredients sounded like any dairy product I know of, so I ate the biscuit dry. I looked at the jam/jelly options, and the first ingredient was high fructose corn syrup, which I avoid, so no luck there. When I considered come catsup for the potatoes, it's first ingredient was also high fructose corn syrup, so nothing there. I didn't eat the potatoes. The bacon was crisp and flavorful. The coffee was good, and refills quick when the level went down. I know I'm particular about my food, and recognize that I have high standards. When I find places that serve me like I wish, I keep returning. I do not think I will...
Read moreIf I could put a 0 star I totally would. We went to try the seafood buffet and the all you can eat crab legs. Upon arrival we had called and tried to make reservations because there were 13 of us. We was told by the hostess that we can make reservations. So when we got there we had to wait 20+ minutes before getting a seat keep in mind we arrived about 6:30. Once we sat down and got our drinks order taken, the waitress had mentioned to us that the cook said they was going last call 20 minutes after 7. By this point it was already 7:15, so we ordered our first round of crab legs and when she brought them out we ordered our second round. We mentioned that one of the girls with us wasn’t eating off the buffet and requested a menu, we never got a menu so she ate a salad. First off the crab legs were cold the only thing that was hot was the plate, they weren’t seasoned. So when the waitress came out to tell us they stopped serving crab legs at 7:30 because they “ran out.” So we said ok and that we’d just eat off the hot bar, so when one of the mother and her son went to get Mac and Cheese off the hot bar she informed us they was pulling stuff off the bar. At this point it was 7:45. We got the manager Lavern to talk about how we was charged $30+ to eat for such little amount, keep in mind they tried charging the girl who asked for a menu as the buffet price. So when we was talking to the manager she wasn’t listening and kept mentioning that “she didn’t own the place.” The manager told us that if we wasn’t going to pay that she was gonna call the cops on us. This morning my mother called to talk to the GM manager Jeff, all that he could offer was paying for our drinks, $20 out of a $300 total bill. The service was completely garbage, manager was rude...
Read moreThis Shoney's has a special place in my heart! It sits right before the Hwy 441 & Hwy 64 junction (for those of you that commute to and from Harrah's Cherokee)...
Every time I leave the comfort of Atlanta (Ha-Ha) for the fun and excitement of the casino (Ha-Ha again) I will stop at this location either on the way or coming back and get a meal that tastes, smells, and feels home cooked!
I am a SUPER FAN of the buffet - especially when there's fried chicken! and their breakfast buffet is insanely good (biscuits and gravy with fluffy pancakes, scrambled eggs, and crispy bacon are a '10' EVERY time).
When ordering from the menu, get any of the burger options with fries. Their burgers have such a hearty and fresh taste - uncommonly good!! The steak and eggs is another one you should order whenever possible (thank me later)!
Service at this Shoney's is efficient and the servers know many of their customers by name... This is incredibly important - makes us all feel 'at home'...
On a very personal note, thank you for being the amazing place you are! Some of those trips home were filled with a lot of anxiety, regret, and casino woes... A good "home-style" meal and a smile...
