I saw this Roy Rogers restaurant and remember them fondly from being a kid. As you don't see these restaurants very often I thought I would give it a try, now I realize why you don't see them. I ordered a roast beef sandwich combo the total of which is kind of expensive at over 12 bucks. I thought I would give that a whirl and rather than just boring old French fries like everywhere else I gave the mashed potatoes and gravy a shot. Everything was a disappointment. The roast beef must be from yesterday; dry, flavorless, old, just terrible served on/in a giant bun so when you unwrap the sandwich wrapper, you think you just got served a gigantic bun. "Where's the beef?" would be the ultimate understatement. But then when you realize there is beef on there and it is so gross and dry you can barely eat it, you wouldn't want any more of that. Served with absolutely no condiments no offer of condiments and I forgot to ask for them. But you would think the drive-thru staff when you order this item would immediately offer barbecue sauce or horseradish sauce, etc. but nota chance. And I forgot to ask. They seem to care less about the customer then chit-chatting with each other. And the mashed potatoes and gravy, reconstituted flake particles, gross out of the box mashed potatoes want to be; what the heck was I thinking in ordering these?! Bland, tasteless and boring. Served with a couple of dabs of what seems the consistency of mud, equally as tasteless, disgusting gravy. Like probably the cheapest brand store brought gravy you could come up with! It's all just gross. Stay away from Roy Rogers, there's a reason why this might be one of the last ones...
Read moreTerrible! Had to wait well over 10 mins for a texas pete chicken sandwich. When the bag of food was brought out to us i noticed there was no bbq sauce. Worker laughed and said oh sorry she said you didn't ask for any, she is a mess and then he continued to laugh. I also mentioned that our two orders of large fries were filled to less than a small fry. He laughed again and said sorry. These people were so high all they could do is laugh. Did we get our bbq sauce—NO. Did we get the correct amount of fries—NO. Waste of money and time. This Roy Rogers was known for great food and service. What happened over the last year?!? Was one of my favorites but my last few visits have been horrible. I will not...
Read moreI love Roy Rogers! When the beef is rare and the fries are fresh (which they will gladly do if asked) it is fantastic. When traveling we wait until we get in back in Frederick County to eat at Roy's! I grew up in Montgomery County and there was Roy's down there then but they disappeared. I was very pleasantly surprised to see them up here when we moved. The milkshakes are excellent! Ice cream and milk is all it takes. The children love too watch it go from ice cream in a tub to a milk shake that is so delightfully thick with real strawberries getting stuck on the straw. The chicken can be sometimes dry and tough more attention needs to be paid in that area. But on the whole Roy's is a yes...
