La Michoacana Grill — Restaurant in Frederickson

Came upon this delightful Mexican place by chance… The Wife and I found ourselves out on a Saturday evening without the kiddos so we decided to treat ourselves. She was craving some carne asada and Google Maps steered us to La Michoacana Grill. My wife ordered the Carne Asada plate and I got the Molcajete. Our food came out hot and sizzling not long after and it did not disappoint in the least bit. Carne was cooked beautifully and so full of flavor with tasty grill marks across the steak. I tried grilled cactus for the first time and was surprised by how good it tasted, the shrimp was top shelf and the seasoning was perfect. Nothing was bland like I’ve read in other reviews so maybe they have made the necessary changes or it was just an off night for those reviews. Hector came to the table to see how we liked the food and service. He chatted with us for a few short minutes and was such a gracious host! Normally I leave only positive reviews. This isn’t a bad one either. Love the food. Been there twice now, the service is mediocre at best. I’m not a needy person. But if I have to ask for chips and salsa, ask politely multiple times for a refill, it gets annoying. Eating my meal with nothing to drink while they stand around... They aren’t rude by any means, they just seem as if they haven’t worked in the industry, or indifferent to what it entails. There has been no one else in the place or one other table when I’ve been in there and I have to ask for service, it’s just odd. Again, they aren’t rude, they just rather hang out in the back. Wife is turned off by it now so not sure if we will be back. Which is too bad because I do like the food. Expect good food, wouldn’t expect...

To anyone looking to try authentic Mexican food please come to this place for a real taste of Mexico recently open in the Frederickson area next to Safeway. Homemade tortillas -these are only available on the weekends, tacos dorado's de pollo- outstanding, street tacos, molcajete "cactus, steak, cheese, shrimp, chorizo etc it was 🔥, , AGUCHILES be patient when ordering as they make them fresh and delicious fresh house made margaritas with mezcal soooo good!
