Incredibly rude service and food poisoning.
First, I want to be clear that I was not planning on leaving a review but the interaction I just had at this restaurant warrants a warning to anyone considering patronizing here.
My wife, 2-year-old son, and I ordered dinner from this restaurant. My meal tasted slightly weird, but I attributed that to the sauce and thought nothing of it. About an hour after eating, my stomach started cramping and, within another 30 minutes, I started vomiting heavily. I spent the evening in the bathroom with cold sweats and dry heaving until it felt like I wasn't ever going to stop.
My wife called the restaurant while I was sick and asked for a refund and, after receiving an argument from the employee, was told that we could come in to get our money back.
Side note, in the middle of the night, my 2 year-old, who ate off my plate, woke up screaming with stomach cramps and a diaper full of diarrhea.
Well, having recovered, I just went back to get the promised refund. I waited until no one was around the counter before discussing the issue as I was trying to not cause damage to the restaurant's reputation. The cashier proceeded to argue with me about the refund. I remained civil and just quietly re-explained the situation and requested my refund. Eventually, after giving me an earful about how it was "impossible" that I got sick from their food, I was refunded. I thanked the cashier and turned to leave. At this point, a gentleman behind the counter aggressively shook his fist at me and commanded "AND DON'T COME BACK!"
I responded, "what?" to which he repeated louder, "DON'T YOU EVER COME BACK HERE!!"
I was blown away. I had been cordial, polite, and professional and to have someone be so aggressively and undeservedly rude to me was an insult too far.
I will never give this restaurant my money and I suggest that you don't as well. There are many other local restaurants in the area that are far more deserving of your money. For Sushi, go to Trappers. For Chinese food, go to Pho Ever & Wok.
*One final thing, just to be clear:
This was the first time, ever, that I've requested a refund for food. Even when I've had food that didn't taste good or was not what I had ordered, I've never asked for my money back. I just eat it, or don't, and move on with my life.
However, I think it is more than fair for me to not want to have to pay for the privilege of getting...
Read moreMediocre food and terrible new owners. (Updated at bottom to reflect owner response)
I enjoyed this place in the past, the food was never incredible, but was ok for the price. My wife and I went back today to use a $50 gift certificate that was given to us 5 months ago for our wedding, and the new owners refused to honor it because "the old owners kept the money for that". I explained that "when you buy a company, you buy that company’s liabilities", but they didn’t care about the law, and made no attempts to make it up to us in any way.
I look forward to never eating their mediocre food again.
(Update: There was no confusion about the expiration date, I physically pointed to "2022" on the gift certificate, and they responded that they would not honor it because they weren't the ones to receive money for it. I explained the law, and a second person came back to the table to reiterate that they wouldn't honor it, and that they expected me to pay full price for my meal.)
Under Washington State law, a gift certificate sold by any retailer cannot expire. Do not under any circumstances purchase a gift certificate from this restaurant - they do not...
Read moreThis has been our 'Go To' sushi restaurant for four years now. Always clean, consistent, delicious, and very friendly!! My personal favorites are the Super Philly Roll, the Salmon Love Roll, and the Rainbow roll. My wife always sticks to the California roll because she loves it, and she is not a big fan of raw fish. Some other favorites are the Salmon Hand roll. It is a screaming deal at only $4!!! I can't buy that much salmon at the supermarket for only $4... I don't know how they do it! I also have to get the Salmon Roe (Ikura) from the nigiri sushi list every time I go there. Mmm GOOD!
BTW... I saw a negative post on here from someone claiming to be a chef that complained the tuna had been previously frozen. (DUH!) I can only surmise that he is just some nut and not a chef at all because the FDA provides very clear guidance under their Parasite Destruction Guarantee. This states in part that fish intended to be consumed raw must be “frozen and stored at a temperature of -20°C (-4°F) or below for a minimum of 168 hours (7 days)”. What a...
