Please acknowledge this Review as helpful. This was my first time at Legendary Doughnuts. I visited the store in Puyallup, WA. The shop was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. This doughnut shop makes specialty doughnuts, not like your run of the mill doughnuts. These doughnuts are larger than normal. They have the doughnuts you're used to such as glazed, chocolate covered with nuts, cinnamon rolls, etc. They have novelty names for their doughnuts. Because they are handcrafted and specialty doughnuts they will not have as many as a normal doughnut shop. They have a website that is helpful. I ordered a variety of amateur, famous, and legendary. Of the amateur doughnuts, the old fashioned was much the same density as any other old fashioned doughnut but a bit too sweet. The plain Jane was very good. The dough was soft and chewy with the right amount of glaze. Of the famous selections, the Glazed Persian was a wonderful ode to the common cinnamon roll. Not too much cinnamon and not too much glaze. Also, the braided twist was very good. Much the same as the Glazed Persian just a different shape. Of the legendary doughnuts i really enjoyed the peanut butter filled pillow doughnut. The only complaint for this one was not enough peanut butter and jelly. There was a doughnut unlike the others, i believe it was the caramel nut Persian. It was square and topped with caramel and salt. The dough was even different. This one was EXCELLENT. The dough was heavenly and mixture of sweetness with the addition of the caramel topping and sprinkle of sea salt was a prefect marriage of flavours. I highly recommend this doughnut. I also ordered a regular black coffee. A doughnut shop should have good coffee. Their coffee was a bold dark roast with rich flavors. Not a Columbian roast nor a breakfast roast. It wasn't too bitter. All in all not a bad cup of coffee. Also, it wasn't scorching hot which is a plus in my book. I don't understand scorching hot coffee where you have to wait 15 minutes for it to cool down enough to begin to sip. The main reason I rated this shop 4 stars was the price of the doughnuts. It was 19.99 for an assortment of 4 of each of the amateur, famous, and legendary. These doughnuts are good but not so good I'm going to spend this much every time i want some doughnuts. I might visit this specialty shop again, but i think if you're looking for a quick dozen doughnuts and want to spend less than 20 bucks, you might look to another source.

To be fair these doughnuts can be the best you have ever had, but they sometimes are sorely lacking the wow factor that you pay dearly for. We used to go very often but haven’t had much luck with the good ones being in stock when we’ve stopped in for the past 2 years so we don’t even try anymore. We decided to come in for my husbands birthday and were happy to see lots in stock so we were pretty excited and started choosing. We ordered two caramel sea salt doughsants as part of our box, usually a favorite, but when we got home we were bummed to see that while one was up to par (and tasted amazing) the other was so much smaller, was not really glazed, and also had much less caramel than the other. We ended up sharing the “good” one among 4 of us because no one wanted to eat the “bad” one. I guess I just wish they were more consistent because we wouldn’t have ordered two of those if we knew how different they would be. We used to drive all the way to Tacoma or Lakeland Hills because their doughnuts were the best and were worth it. The good ole days. Update: The owner reached out and sent several coupons for free amateur or famous doughnuts as an incentive to come back and try again. Went in today for my daughter’s birthday and the selection was great; none looked like they skimped on the toppings at all. The young lady behind the counter today (I wish I got her name) was phenomenal. We took a very long time to choose and she was patient and had a smile on her face the whole time. When she heard me telling my daughter that I didn’t see the one my husband had last time and loved, she offered to make it on the spot. This is the customer service I used to get in Lake Tapps and have never seen in Frederickson. She is amazing and will bring in repeat customers so try and keep her!! We got 5 doughnuts today and all were fantastic. We will return.

Legendary Doughnuts: The Best I've Ever Had I first discovered Legendary Doughnuts at their Orting, WA location and now frequent the one in Puyallup. Simply put, the donuts are absolutely fantastic. As a 60-year-old, I can confidently say these are the best donuts I have ever eaten. While they offer a constantly rotating selection of exciting special and unique flavors, my tried-and-true favorite remains their classic maple bar. It’s the perfect example of doing a simple thing extraordinarily well. If you are even thinking about stopping in, please do yourself a favor and go. You definitely won't regret it!

After a long hard early shift this morning we wanted to grab a quick bite before heading home as we were too tired to cook. Now I wish we would have just cooked an omelette or something.. Never tried this donut shop we have been looking for a good one, I have heard the “cake donuts” were the best here so why not stop and try them. Boy we have never had an experience like this at a donut shop. Ever since I moved here it is hard to find donuts as good as winchells. We actually thought legendary would be the one as it is such a different type of donut shop sounded fun and delicious. Unfortunately the staff was not at all kind or friendly at all. One that served us seemed as she was frustrated and simply in a bad mood. We tried to make basic conversation with her to “liven” the mood a bit I’m sure she wasn’t happy about working on Easter still that’s no way to treat customers, I have a feeding tube I have to be aware of what I can/cant eat I figured they would have some plain donut while my hubby got his indulgent donut. The lady was so snappy and rude she said unless we order a call in they do not make them. We understand that no biggie but she could have at least been a bit friendly, or something she just was simply rude. If they were busy we could understand the rush and rudeness but no one was in the shop just us and 2 employees that is all. The shop seemed clean for from what we could see. We were going to stay and have coffee but decided to leave the atmosphere was just didn’t feel right. Got home and we tried the donuts nothing to “call home” about l, they did have a selection of a “different breed” of donuts that was interesting to experience. I now understand why our friends, nurse and caregiver have made comments about trying legendary here and there hoping the next time will be better they just simply do not go anymore. Luke’s is so much better and atmosphere is like family the second you walk inside even if they are busy they take the time to greet you all the staff have smiles and are pleasant. Sucks they are closed on Sundays. With the taste and friendliness of the staff. We have to agree the place was just not inviting even with the cute decor.. All in all we just wanted to check it out and see what’s so special about this place. Not sure if we will ever go back, it’s definitely not one to go out of our way for that’s for sure.. This was at the...
