Stay away! Family run and owned by an angry bitter old man with zero customer service skills and deep hatred for little kids. Wanted to support their business during the height of the pandemic so I took my family and friends here when they had few tables outside. A very nice lady came out to greet us and constantly played with our kids. We enjoyed the food and professional service from the first time so we came back. Right after placing our orders, our kids went to wash their hands and came back to their seats. An old angry face man immediately stormed out from the kitchen and yelled at us saying the kids were walking too fast back to their seats and he doesn't want them to bother other customers. Mind you we were the only customers for the whole entire time. Today we came with a big group of friends and family. Once we place our order, the same old man immediately approached our table with this huge angry face demeanor like he was going to beat us up. He demanded us to keep our voices down like we were at a library. This poorly run business with zero customer experience skills needs to keep him in the kitchen and his street attitude away from friendly paying customers. This is totally unacceptable, especially with little ones. He literally traumatized all the little kids with his street attitude. The kids even asked us why was the big bad wolf huffing and puffing at our table. Stay away and take your business elsewhere!! Wish we never even considered supporting them during covid...
10/14/22 - To clarify a couple of things from their response:
My family and I have been to Miss Saigon countless times from when it first opened for businesses over 10 years ago. We have always enjoyed the food and the services from the owners’ two sons. However when we visited the place yesterday, we were basically insulted by the owner for no reason.
I used to love their large bowl portion for pho where there was plenty of broth. Therefore, when they changed the menu serving pho in one size where there is much less broth, I wasn’t a fan of the change because with the same amount of pho in a much smaller bowl, the broth becomes murky and less tasty. So after ate many times there since they changed the menu, I decided to ask the owner yesterday if I could get some extra broth on the side. I did not expect a simple question like this would aggravate any normal restaurant owners.
He began replying with an upset tone “if you want extra broth, you got to pay for it”. So, I asked how much? He said “I don’t know, I will need to check”. His wife, who was on the other side of the floor probably overheard her husband’s upset voice came over and asked us what was happening. The owner responded by “This guy wants some extra broth and doesn’t want to pay for it”. At that point, I just didn’t want to continue the conversation. So I said “Don’t worry about it”, speaking in a very calm and normal tone, still smiling. This “incident” could’ve ended right there and then. But his next comment was shocking “This guy thinks the broth comes out of a faucet”.
The owner has a serious angry management issue. My wife was so upset with the owner’s insult, she vowed she will never return to this place again.
It’s a shame that after eating hundreds of times there and spending easily over $10K over the years, we will have to find another Vietnamese restaurant to dine in. Why the owner would insult a long time loyal customers like my wife and I where I know he recognizes us...
Read moreThe decors were all ethnic and done in good taste, one of the best ambiance among the Vietnamese restaurants I've visited.
Service was very good. Both young waiters were very attentive. We got a pot of complimentary jasmine tea as we waited for our orders which I list below:
A2. Summer rolls $3.95 A14. Fried Chicken wings dipped in fish sauce $8 R3. Rice w/ grilled pork and beef $6.95 R4. Rice w/ grilled chicken $6.95 V4. Vermicelli w/ sliced grilled beef $7.95 V6. Vermicelli w/ sliced grilled beef and pork $9.25 P1. Pho Dac Biet $9.95
Each of the two summer rolls had 3 prawns in it. They were OK. The sauce was not the usual peanut based, perhaps fish sauce? It was actually a nice twist.
The fried chicken wings came with 6 pieces but only 2 of them were wings. They were very crispy and the accompanying fish sauce was refreshing. They were good though not as good as the Korean fried chicken.
The rice and vermicelli dishes were all up to par.
The pho was deliberately served with raw ground beef topping the soup. It was definitely striking. I quickly dip it into the piping hot broth to ensure it gets cooked before I dumped in the mung bean spouts and basil. The broth was tasty, pho perfectly cooked. The only negative was the sliced beef was tough.
Overall, it's not the best Vietnamese restaurant I've been to, but certainly one of the better ones. Given it's the closest one to where my parents lives, it will be my go to Vietnamese when I am in town.
Oh, forgot to mention -- their takeout menu is remarkably well designed. Very impressive. Make sure to take one...
