It is said that man does not live by bread alone - but if we did the bread at Krust Cafe would be more than enough.

Bread and rolls are the stars here at Krust. Fresh made rolls and bread are the specialty, but what makes Krust Cafe so special is what’s between the bread.

Newly opened on route 9 south in Freehold, Krust Cafe occupies the former Romeo’s Express location close to the intersection with Elton-Adelphia Road.

The place is small but the vibe is big. There are tables for dining in and a small coffee bar. The decor is a clean Jersey Shore look. There is a friendly intimacy that encourages interaction with others - if you want.

Each table has a cool old-time wooden game to keep you occupied.

There is a good selection of unique hot sauces on each table so you won’t lack for seasoning.

I had the triple decker BLT. It was generously stuffed with the right amount of mayonnaise. As a bacon aficionado I can say the bacon was thick, tasty, and cooked to perfection. The “hook-up” side salad was a treat - orzo, cucumber and pepper bits in a light dressing was a delight.

My wife had the butternut squash apple soup in a bread bowl. The soup was delicious. The combination of flavors was hearty and just right on a cold day. Once the soup was gone she enjoyed the warm bread bowl.

The menu of breakfast sandwiches is a culinary delight, with many combinations of egg, bacon, pork roll and cheese. Lunch sandwiches hold much promise also, with fresh takes on steak and cheese and Italian hot dogs. More than one visit will be required to try them all.

The staff is friendly and helpful. What a great new place with friendly folks....

Krust Cafe Freehold is truly an American gem! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 The bread here is nothing short of patriotic perfection – fresh from the oven and utterly addicting! 🍞😋👌 The chocolate bread is particularly, deeply, utterly delicious – it’s a game-changer! Fresh out of the oven, it's as good as it gets. The rolls and loaves are a testament to local craftsmanship. Even when ordering through DoorDash, the food arrived incredibly fresh, hot, and perfectly packaged, showing dedication to excellence.

The staff are incredibly friendly and embody that welcoming American spirit, making everyone feel right at home. It's truly a community spot, a place where people connect and a real slice of Americana. You might even run into Jimmy, a brave veteran who served our country with the 110th Military Police Company in

Operation Paul Bunyan

, who's found a new home here and is often seen enjoying his morning around 7:30 am. It's truly great to see a local business that honors our veterans. God Bless Krust Cafe! 🫡🇺🇸

The only complaint? The sheer panic when it's Monday and Krust Cafe is closed! 😭 It's become such a beloved part of the daily routine, and when the doors are shut, it truly makes one miss those fresh rolls AND that incredible chocolate bread! Krust Cafe is a must-visit for amazing, quality food, incredible bread (especially the chocolate!), and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels just like home. God Bless America and this wonderful cafe! ❤️🤍💙 #KrustCafeFreehold #FreeholdNJ #FreshBread #VeteranFriendly #CommunitySpot #SupportLocal #BreakfastGoals #LunchSpot #MondayBlues #AmericanOwned #Patriotic...

Although a very small dining area, it has a very cute, laid back vibe. When we entered we were told to grab some menus and pick a table. We chose a table in the corner since there were only 2 of us. It's a very cold corner ....the air was blowing right on us. The menu had a very big selection and it was hard to choose. I wanted to try everything! I ordered the Avo-Eggy toast and my son ordered the The Jam. I also ordered coffee, which is set up as a station that you serve yourself at. They offered samples of the bread they sell. I didn't try any, but they looked delicious. I was really looking forward to my Avo-Eggy toast, but was disappointed by the Avocado. It wasn't fresh. I would have preferred fresh slices of Avocado over a prepared avocado. It tasted alot like the Avocado dip I get at Acme honestly, so I knew right away it wasn't freshly prepared. My son loved the Jam sandwich! The staff was super nice and the service...

We loved Krust Café for the vibe, food, and coffee! The folks working here are friendly and hardworking making sure we had everything we needed. The coffee is available from a coffee urn and it's hot and really good. We ordered an Italian chopped sandwich and Philly cheesesteak sandwich both served on soft, delicious bread. I highly recommend the Italian chopped if you are craving all the classic combined flavors of the meats, cheese, mayo, and oil and vinegar. Yum! Lots of creative breakfast and lunch sandwich options. We have also tried and loved the BLT, pork roll, and french toast. Krust Café sells its incredible bread too! It's a small restaurant you may have to wait for a table but it will be worth it! Located in the Abbey Carpet plaza on Route 9 South in Freehold, NJ.
