Honestly I didn't have a great experience. The wife and I have been going to the Fremont Chili's forever now, and we've always had a great or pleasant experience. However, our last trip there was neither. We sat in the bar to eat dinner and it took a large amount of time for someone to help us. It was a Wednesday night, so the restaurant and bar was very quiet. Once our waiteress finally did come over to help on us, she was excellent. Five minutes never went by before she was back checking on us. Not kidding...She was on top of things and so good at her job !!!
The reason for the 3 stars is an employee who works there. I wasn't even aware this person worked there until later. All I knew at the time he was staring me down liked he wanted to FIGHT. So, I asked him could I help him. No reply or comment. He continued to stare me down, so I then asked him what his problem was. No answer or comment of any kind from the individual. Just more staring and now with more evil and harsh looks. So, of course I got louder and louder, and I even asked him if he wishes to do something, coz I was ready to handle the situation. Right about then is when he turned and went into the back where the kitchen is. I'm sorry, this gentleman has no business being out with the public if he wishes to continue to make customers feel unwelcome. Businesses are already hurting for customers and with employees like this guy, you'll even have less. I know I won't go back to this Fremont location and I'm going to spread and advertise the love of this one employee everywhere I can to make sure everyone is aware of what kind of people you have working there !!!
Nothing worse than trying to have a nice night out and someone from your restaurant wishes to stop this from happening. If it wasn't my wife's birthday and her begging for me not to pursue the matter, I woulda gotten up from the table and got into his face. It was that bad and this one employee should be sat down without pay, better yet...FIRED !!! The country and world is already upside down and in chaos. We sure don't need people like this inside of...
Read moreThis was our first experience at this particular store and while I've certainly had better Chili's experiences, I've also had worse.
It's Chili's! So, I won't waste much time on the menu which is constantly changing or the inherent restaurant design flaws shared by nearly every unit in the country that make it impossible to chat during a busy time.
As expected, the waitstaff got our order correct (a measurable plus) and the food was adequate. It's hard to determine whether slow service is a problem with the waitstaff, the kitchen or the result of poor management. This evening's experience suggests plenty of room for improvement, but nothing that would keep me from giving them another try.
It was Saturday night, so the store was busy and whether the kitchen or front of the restaurant was understaffed or undertrained (perhaps all of the above) is immaterial. The inefficiencies of the team were evident by long wait times to order and longer wait times between ordering and receiving our slightly overcooked, but no longer hot meals. Ultimately, these circumstances slow the table-turn, cut into both revenue and margins and in better run organizations are quickly resolved with new managers, better training and far more attention to detail.
This is not an uncommon problem at busy Chili's locations, but child-friendly menus drive us to Chili's -- simultaneously numbing our tastebuds and lowering our expectations. Given these parameters, our meal was filling, tasty enough and reasonably priced. The kids enjoyed themselves and despite the loud atmosphere, slow service and merely adequate meals, we'll probably return to this location in the future.
The saving grace for Chili's corporate is their ability to leverage their size to consistently rein-in vendor pricing without sacrificing fairly high food quality controls. If they ever figure out how to apply the same discipline at the store management level to training, customer service and kitchen efficiency they will become an unstoppable Force in the...
Read moreOrdered for pickup on 1/13 from the mobile app. Food was suppose to be ready at 7:22pm and I arrived at 7:26pm. There were a lot of people when I arrived sitting waiting for their food. At the counter was a woman waiting. I guess part of her order was missing so they were making it now.
At 7:34pm I was next and he asked me for my name and told me my order should be coming out soon.
A few minutes later a man came in said he got the wrong order. He swapped the containers and placed it at the counter. Then a moment later he grabbed the container the guy brought in and tried to pass it off onto the woman waiting. She ask him if that’s what he did. He didn’t respond just asked what. She repeated herself and he said yes. The orders got mixed up but that it was hers. She told him she could not believe he would do that. He said that it was fine the guy said he never opened it. I was standing right there. The guy never said that. He just said that wasn’t his and told him what his order was. She told him he should have thrown that food away once it left the restaurant you never know what could have happened to it. And he just placed the food back on the counter. She asked to speak with a manager. Her food came out short and she waited a bit but eventually left. I don’t blame her. Her food wasn’t ready on time she already waited and then that.
My order started coming out. It’s frustrating that you take the time to customize it how you want it but they don’t take the time to review the order before they make it. I didn’t want onions/chives on the salads and mash potatoes. And both were made incorrectly. I first told him about the mash potatoes and he tried correcting me like I didn’t order it that way. When he looked up at the screen he just said oh. He asked them to redo it. But when the next two came out one still have chives.
I’ve never had this bad of an experience. And if it happens again I’ll have to find somewhere else...
