West State Street Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Fremont

Decided to try this place for lunch. Ordered the Brisket Nachos. On the website they were listed as $9.00 and they have a $1.00 surcharge for to go (not sure why you’d do that during the pandemic when most orders are to go but oh well). When I got there they charged me $12.00. I didnt say anything but beware that their prices may have changed.

The food: the brisket was nice and tender with good smoke. The bbq sauce was wasn’t bad either. It appears housemade. The jalapeños listed on the menu were missing and the chips were your standard bulk food tortilla chips. All and all, it tastes alright but a bit one note. Something bright (like jalapeños) would go a long way to fix this up.

Price: as mentioned, I was charged more than what the menu said. Worth the menu price? Maybe... worth the extra $3.00 I paid? Not really...

I’ll try it again when dine in is a little easier to do because family and friends have had better experiences but for this visit,...

I wish I could give this a 6 star. We accidently found this sports bar while looking for a different place. When we walked in, there were pool tables, and a bar along with tables for seating. We thought, yea this is a typical sports bar. While looking at the interesting menu, we realized it was very different. They have a Chef instead of a cook! He grows his own spices and vegetables and has a catering service too. He came from the kitchen to tell us about the stuffed peppers that had just come out of the oven. My husband had a chile burger that was so loaded that he had to eat it with a knife and fork. The stuffed peppers were exceptional! Scott, the chef is very personable, funny and he takes pride in telling patrons about the food he is creating in the kitchen. The food here is so good. Everything tastes freshly made and perfectly seasoned — real comfort food done right. The burgers are juicy and cooked exactly how you ask, the fries are crispy and golden, and the portions are more than generous.

You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they serve. Every dish that comes out has that homemade quality you don’t get at chain restaurants. The menu has something for everyone, and it’s all consistently delicious.
