Ewell's Place — Restaurant in Fresno

Moved to the area about 5-6 years ago, and have frequented most of the bars Fresno/Clovis has to offer a time or two. This is by far the worst, and that's saying A LOT!

Just get a bad vibe all around everytime I have visited. I've seen an entire maybe 15-20 people in there tops, on a Friday night! And! 10 of them were some homeboys in the back hogging both of the pooltables trying to flex on anybody that would pay them enough attention. The rest were some regulars with personalities about as interesting as paint drying on a wall. Have seen about 20 fights, and a stabbing in my constant frequenting of this fine establishment. I've been there....3-4 times...I know, can't believe I made it through unscathed with that many visits myself.

My concern is, how do you not have security at the door, or at least a bartender that isn't a woman past the age of, 40? 50? I dunno, not discriminating to any of my fellow 40-50 year olds. I know plenty of awesome bartenders/patrons around town at least that, or possibly even older, that totally kickass. I understand where the regulars get their oh so exuberant personalities from through.

Worst experience in a bar n Fresno. Ordered a vodka redbull. Their redbull spout was not working right. She still served us. Couple minutes later she explained it wasn’t working and needed to be replaced, to the “barback.” Tried to get her attention for 10-15 minutes. Got the “hold on” finger 3 times. Was even going to try and switch it for a vodka/orange juice. She kept avoiding us. Finally took my wife to the car, (wasted 45 minutes of our night). Came back to get her card. Bartender said she was going to charge us for the vodka and we could pick another drink. I told her we were leaving and just wanted the card so we can leave. She told me she already charged me and preceded to make drinks for 3 parties, before she gave my card back. I was respectful the whole time, got louder when she held onto my card to fix the other drinks. I wish I could laugh and admit that this was a joke. But I can’t make this up. What a...

Ewell’s Place is a solid hole-in-the-wall bar in Fresno, perfect if you’re just looking for a quick drink in a relaxed setting. The vibe is easygoing, the music was on point, and the atmosphere makes it a great spot to unwind without any fuss.

What really stood out during our visit was the service. The waitress who helped us that night was excellent—super friendly, attentive, and kept our drinks cold and coming without ever needing to be asked twice. Even though I didn’t catch her name, she definitely made the experience better.
