Good Lord where to even begin. I didn't get too many items (for fear of getting sick after eating what I did eat) so I can only comment on what I tried and what I saw. First.. nowhere near the one that closed in Clovis years ago. This location is AWFUL. Went there for lunch buffet at about 2:30. Started with the salad... ranch dressing, what was left that I had to scrape from the bottom of the bowl, was overly sweet. Croutons were stale. Lettuce looked like going bad pieces were mixed in with fresher pieces. The cheddar cheese looked and tasted so processed. Got the bourbon chicken, at least I hope it was chicken, and they were tiny skinny pieces that many were hard; taste was ok. The mashed potatoes were so dry that I had to bang the spoon hard to get them on my plate, and still had difficulty doing so. Plus, the container was about 1/4 full so guessing they were old. That's another thing, so many items weren't being refilled. The gravy that was next to the potatoes was old as it had solidified film on top, like the clam chowder soup I tried. The mac n cheese was mush. I wanted a carved piece of ham but once I looked at the tiny bit that was left on the cutting board and saw how dried out it was, I moved on. Plus there was no one at the station to slice it. I then moved onto the desserts. I grabbed a piece of what I think was chocolate pie, and some lemon cake. All I could handle of each was one bite and almost spit out the chocolate one. The chocolate pie was about the nastiest thing I ever tasted. It was so thick and dry. The so-called lemon cake didn't taste anything like lemon but more like what it looked like, overly greasy cake. The entire place looked like it's always in disarray. NEVER going back which suck as I love American buffets and this is the only...
Read moreThe okay. The wait in line was maybe 30 minutes at 1:30 pm on a Saturday in December. First shock was that the senior special was not available on the weekend. You couldn't let that special carry through in the weekend? Seniors, like kids, eat less. Cost should be less. I guess the food is okay if you like fried breading. The meat loaf and ham and turkey were okay. Runny undercooked bread dressing. Mashed potatoes had an odd taste and none of us could eat them. The breaded shrimp were hard and dry. The salad bar was awful. The lettuce was sad and the mixins lacking. The soup wasn't labeled except as "omelet," a mistake I am sure. In fact the turkey was mislabeled as chicken and the broccoli as Brussels sprouts. The dessert bar was adequate. Pies that looked store bought in aluminum pans. For over $100 for four people, one a child and one 77 years old, this was very disappointing. I guess the steak lovers will appreciate the price but for those who don't or can't eat steak (seniors?), the remainder left me wanting for healthy and tasty food.
Lastly, a visit to the restroom revealed piles of toilet seat covers and toilet paper piled up on the floors of the stalls. Reminded me of restaurants in countries where you can't flush down paper. Ewww. Sorry, Golden Corral. No pat on the back from this senior...
Read moreI honestly was not impressed at all by this Golden Corral. I'm originally from Texas and I've been to Golden Corral in Wisconsin as well and this was not a typical Golden Corral. The buffet choices were not as advertised. Some items were either overcooked or undercooked. InTexas and Wisconsin you have a big variety of food choices from sliders to steak and a big variety of different roll choices along with a variety of butters. They also offer different soups and Asian dishes. The dessert bars are filled with lots of tasty choices and the soft serve machine is always working. I was disappointed that this location in California didn't offer many choices and the dessert bar wasn't as good either. I really wanted ice cream but the machine was out of order. The ladies that clean tables and pick up your dirty dishes are not too friendly and they expect a tip. For what? Clearing your used plates? At least the other Golden Corralsi mentioned in Texas and Wisconsin they ask how you're doing and ask if you need drink refills and get it for you and drinks are included in the price of the buffet. My Son payed almost 90.00 for a buffet that was not impressive and rude workers. Will not return and would not really recommend it. If you're ever in Texas try their Golden Corrals ... You'll definitely see a different in the...
