4.5 stars. (You'd think Google could make half stars an option). We will be back to try more food so there's a solid chance at 5 stars in the future.
Fresno lacks unique breakfast spots in general. Most places in town do tge traditional breakfast pretty well and rhen there's always the chains that are OK in a pinch or when you're drunk enough to not care what you eat. It's a rare to find a place that makes breakfast food that's one of a kind or out of the park good. Well, we found one today. We saw grandma Jane's come up on Google and made our way downtown. It's deep downtown but felt safe during the day. The purple awning and door give the location away. And my wife thought it was really cute on the inside and out. We were greeted by a woman who was super nice and she took our order. Then you find a place to sit. The music playing was nostalgic being someone who grew up in the 90s.
We started with the chicken and waffles which was bone in chicken (3 pieces) and the savory waffle which has cheese in it. The portion was big. The batter on rhe chicken is very crispy and tasty. It was hard not to keep eating it past the point of self disgust fullness. The waffle was crispy as well and you could taste the cheese. Add some syrup and it was an absolute winner. Next was the sweet potato and chorizo hash with fried eggs on top. The hash was delicious with the peppers. In true has form the chorizo has some crunchy buts and the potato was nice and soft. I'd definitely order it again. Last was a pancake. Gotta try the pancakes whenever we have breakfast. Carbs are amazing and pancakes smothered in butter is a fatty carb utopia. It was thick and fluffy in the middle and just crispy on the outside. No syrup needed on the pancakes at all.
The chef was a really nice guy and the woman worming there was very sweet. It seems like a family owned place and they had pictures of their family inside. We really enjoyed our food and experience at Grandma Jane's.
Even before we left we had decided to go back to try more of the breakfast options. Fresno has a hidden little gem in the heart of downtown. I would and will be recommending...
Read moreOne of the new hidden gems in the area for 2022. I would say that this food is definitely more Latin and Southern flavor than Creole or Cajun, unlike what I read in the Fresno Bee. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles which was $15.99. The flavors were definitely what you would expect. I had a choice of going sweet or savory, I chose savory. I also ordered the tres leche French toast which was $9.99. It was definitely very delicious and very sweet, different than what you expect from a French toast that you would order. I would definitely come back, that is answer to this place, I would suggest it to anyone. My only issue is that there should have been something more to go with each dish. For $15.99 a drumstick and a breast and one waffle, something else should have come with it. Then with the French toast, it’s a slice of bread, tres leche sauce, and a few dollop of whip cream. How about a protein on the side? It was a good experience and definitely it left me wanting more. So I will come back again but will try...

The OG Nachos were a masterpiece. Crispy tortilla chips topped with melted cheese, succulent chicken, and fresh toppings that created a symphony of flavors.
The Lunch Burrito was pure bliss. Each bite revealed tender meat, perfectly cooked rice, and a delightful blend of spices that left me craving more.
