For jury duty, I got a summons that was very informative on what to do before getting there and how to get there. They made the sign in easier from the last time I was there; they have a kiosk they just scan your badge to sign in and the seating is placed better, they now use actual tv than the projector they used to use. It's clean in the room and they let you eat in there. The staff and security were very kind and helpful. The only thing is they don't have restrooms in that building so you have to go to the other building side and sometimes if the 1st story restroom is full you have to go up to a different floor.

The courthouse park is huge and has a tone of space to walk, jog or do any physical activities. It’s also great for feeding squirrels and birds (don’t know if that’s allowed honestly but I do it ☠️), also good for taking your dog for a walk. It’s decently clean, but there are loads of trash cans (please pick up after yourselfs). I rate it a 4 because tons to do (bringing your own equipment or things) but, more could be added for what you would call a “park” (playground, drinking fountains, public bathrooms).

This spot is centered in the middle of downtown, on two sides there are bus depots for both north and south bound busses.

You can catch the V-line from Fresno to Visalia, return trips from Visalia will go to the Fresno Air Terminal and Fresno State University before going to Courthouse park and returning to Visalia.

There are snack vendors a few times a day who sell sandwiches, bags of chips, dorritos, sodas and other. Access to the Fulton mall has an underground pass connected to the underground parking structure (paid parking based on 15 minute intervals).

The school district building is just to the east of the courthouse right across the street. Several eateries, shopping, the Educational Employees Credit Union, other banks and historical places of interests surround the area.

The main sheriff's department is located just outside the courthouse on the north side, across from the jailhouse.

Not far from here is the Amtrak station a couple blocks east, the public playhouse just north of Amtrak, the famous water tower also close by, multi-tier parking structure also close by.

Now, to be aware, there are some drug users that will frequent the area, but are easy to avoid due to the sheriffs frequently patrolling the area and keeping the balance.

Busses usually stop running after 9PM, early running times start roughly around 6-7AM. Weekend times start later and end earlier. Check the web page for accurate times and changes.

It's worth it to make a day of it and check the architecture of the older buildings, some of which come straight out of a 70s drama and TV show. Others show how much heritage is actually a part of Fresno's historical past going back to the turn of the century rich in culture.

If there's a concert happening in that area, usually you'll find it at the Warner's Theatre just a few blocks away. For sports and entertainment, Chuckchansi Stadium (previously Grizzly Stadium) is also within walking distance from there.

If you have a good, off-season fair type appetite, you have to check out Cony Island Dog for some of the best chillie dogs you've ever tasted, maybe order a side of chillie fries to get a good full meal.

Fresno's main public library has a wide selection of books similar to that of the more popular libraries of New York and some college libraries.

The Meaux home historical museum has daily tours and has times posted on their website, inviting people to see what life was like around the late 1800s into early 1900s just across from Amtrak.

All-in-all, taking a bus ride downtown is worth a trip to explore and learn something...

Because it was not in use as a transit hub for city busses the last year (as well as recent regulations OUTLAWING citizens from being without housing if they are not working with the Multi Agency Access Point task force to acquire housing) it's seen an influx then decrease of homeless citizens making this area their primary dwelling place. The recent renovations to the A, B, and L FAX shelters have made the entire area look substantially more modern and welcoming. There are less areas where people can be out of sight. They have taken down all the walls, covering and raised planters at the L shelter. Now there are an equal amount of benches however more dispersed, and they have installed shelter from bad weather but similar to what is at updated stops around town. A and B shelters have only the planters remaining and the shelters are in the same style as L shelter's update. The only vestage of the old Fax Transit Center is a sole stop on the east side of courthouse park which...
