This has to be the worst hot chicken place I’ve been to. I’m from SoCal where they have Dave’s Hot Chicken which is what I compare most hot chicken places to. In Fresno I’ve tried Angry Chickz, Fluckers, and now Houston TX and this is the NASTIEST flavor of spice and NASTIEST chicken I’ve ever had.
This is my second time coming (first time I came was when they newly opened and thought it was just bc they’re new) and I wanted to give them another try.
I literally took one bite of the chicken, one bite of coleslaw, and one bite of French fries and threw my ENTIRE bag of $30 food away. I didn’t even care how much money I spent.
The chicken was NOT crispy, it was soggy asl & I even scraped off the seasoning thinking it was that, but NO the chicken is literally disgusting like it was marinated in dirty water. The Coleslaw had NO flavor and tasted like dirty watered lettuce with milk (even Canes has better coleslaw than this). And the fries was just the icing on the cake to throw my food away. It taste like frozen, air fried French fries.
I’m not even gonna get started on the sauce either, that’s another paragraphs worth.
Idk if this place will last, go someplace else and save your money.
I hate writing these reviews but it’s genuinely the worst food I’ve had in my entire life and I LOVEEEEEEEEEE chicken and I was starving when I tried this.
The reviews are by the type of people in the area (iykyk) that have never had good hot chicken before. Sad. And...
Read moreWe came here with high expectations, but we were let down by the taste of the chicken and sauce. We tried the chicken tenders and fries, the chicken was nice and juicy, but the flavor just wasn't hitting the spot for us. We've tried fury hot chicken, angry chickz and now here, Houston hot chicken. Out of the three, this was honestly the worst one as far as flavor goes. We got the medium and spicy tenders. The medium was more like a mild and we had to take a few bites of the spicy in order to feel it, whereas with the other two (angry chickz and fury), your able to feel it pretty much right away, so that was underwhelming. The sauce was more sweet than savory and it tastes a lot like fury's "honey b" sauce, which just isn't for me. As far as seasoning it's not fully there on the chicken and fries compared to the other two which they put on with a heavy hand. It's not just the chicken either, the other two places give you a generous portion of fries and bigger tenders for the same price. If I were to rank the three using the same criteria (flavor, portion size, seasoning, sauce), I'd put angry chickz at the top, followed by fury, and Houston hot chicken at the bottom. All in all I just wasn't very satisfied with my order and I don't think we'll be back any time soon, I'll just stick with my...
Read moreAn absolute 10/10 experience at this place.
I've been to a few other chicken places and some are passable and some are horrid but now that I've finally tried Houston TX hot chicken I've realized how much money I've wasted going to other places for chicken.
1.) Perfect breading, nothing is soggy sad mess of half cooked batter, the whole tender was breaded and crispy. One thing that stood out for me in particular is when taking a bite none of the breading slips of or crumbles away. From the first bite to the last it was a shockingly good chicken tender. 2.) Lots of places have different flavoring that go from mild to spicy but it gets to the point where flavor is gone and spicy is all that remains, not here. Everything from Honey butter to Spicy (That's as far as I'm willing to go lol) is different and amazingly tasty. 3.) I haven't tried too many of their sauces but going off the few I have had I am excited about trying the rest.
The inside wasn't at all what I expected from a chicken place with the amount of neon but I can't wait to go back.
I'll probably get lunch here today.
Edit: It's uncommon to find a place where employees fell like they want to be at work. Here every one of them radiated excitement from being at work. Maybe that's why everything...
