Took my daughter to Irene's cafe for lunch today....been going here for multiple years. First off
-took me almost 10min to get our drinks -the waitress who was not busy at all helped the couple that came in after me before us -the couple that came after me recieved there drinks and FOOD before we even got our drinks -i spoke to the manager and he said he would not charge me for my meal. I wasnt there for a handout but it was very nice of him -when I got my bill nothing was taken off. I spoke to my waitress and she got the manager AGAIN. he to her that she was to credit my meal. Lol she argued with him regarding this -the COLD PART IS ME AND MY DAUGHTER NEVER EVEN RECEIVED A REFILL ON OUR DRINKS AND WAS THERE FOR AT LEAST 45MIN. the waitress came to our table 2 TIMES. -i told her next time she needs to treat her customers better. She told me I didnt have to tip her?! WTF You think I would tip you??!! Dope honestly I don't even know what I paid because I tore up the receipt in front of her and manager! -it was so bad I didn't even take my meal home which my daughter never even touched. Due to the waitees not getting order correct
I WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER RETURN TO IRENE'S CAFE LOCATED IN THE TOWER DISTRICT. I WAS TREATED LIKE A SECOND CLASS CITIZEN. I HAVE NEVER BEEN DISRESPECTED LIKE THIS AT A RESTAURANT. ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAD MY DAUGHTER

Read moreYou are slipping, Irene's. Saturday, April 6th our party of 5 had dinner outdoors. Beautiful weather! Waitress brought drinks and told us the Raspberry Iced Tea was refillable. No refills were offered, nor did the waitress come by much to check on our party of 5 (two couples and a spare lady). My sister has had stomach staple surgery so she and I often share a meal-- they usually charge a small fee for an extra plate which is fine with us. Last night, when it was time to bring out the salad (and extra plate) the waitress brought 2 salads so we had to ask for the extra plate-- and that had to be explained to the waitress all over again since our initial order taking. The remainder of the order took a longer time than usual for food to arrive from the kitchen. My husband ordered a burger with onion rings and he received french fries on his plate. During our meal, we had a street person come by and ask (over the fence) if he could shine our shoes in exchange for cash. Finally our food arrives, and we got the extra plate... when the ticket arrives, we were charged for an extra side salad and the extra plate fee. And no refills offered during our meal. Oh, the food is tasty and healthy. But, your service and understanding of your customer's needs and wants leaves much to be desired, compared to our previous visits within the past 6 months. Too bad, Irene's; I hope this does not 'catch up with you' and cause a decrease...
Read moreWhen we were seated my 74 yr old Mother dropped her iPhone on the Seat and was swallowed up by the Booth. After 10-15 minutes of searching we didnt see it anywhere. I tried to lift the seat out to look under it but it wouldnt budge. So i told my Mother to just hang on and we could ask our nice young waiter to lift it up. So I had to stick my hand between the seat and the window to attempt to locate the phone. I had one whole bench seat of my side of the booth filled about 8 inches tall with moldy pieces of hamburger bun, onion rings, fries and so many things not identifiable that had been there for a very long time. I was appalled, I worked at many restaurants while in college and booth benches always pull out to allow you to deep clean, but the employees at Irene's say they do not come out and I tried myself too. This means that years of "crud" just rests in there......gross. After they brought out a big spatula and tongs from the kitchen and with 2 people pulling on the cushion I was finally able to get a glimpse of the phone under the seat using a big flashlight it still took several minutes to get it with the tongs. We had to go home and sanitize it due to the goo that covered it. I am still horrified to have seen what lies beneath the seats at this otherwise good restaurant. The food was pricey but good the service was great. But the filth? Is a game...
