Update: 5 star no longer
We miss the wonderful food that Jimy and Karen served and Hanah brought to our table. (She would ask if we were having our regular and I miss that)
We visited Jimy Wen's on December 26,2024. Sadly, we can no longer recommend this restaurant. The restaurant was sold due to injuries sustained in a car accident as the Wen family was on their way to the restaurant. The new owners had a bit of a learning curve but really rose to the occasion and even brought in some delicious new dishes. We were so happy that they were honoring the name and traditions of the Wen family. We were hoping to continue calling this our favorite for years to come. Our understanding is that it has possibly been sold again or under new management. The food was nowhere near the same. It was extremely salty to the point of being almost inedible. We had to pick the vegetables off the top of the dish because the sauces were so salty. If not for the salt it would've had no flavor.
They also now charge Full price for soft drink refills - which they didn't inform us about and was not, at the time, printed on the menu. When we pointed out it the hostess/ waitress just shrugged her shoulders, as if to say she didn't care and it wasn't her problem. We are now on the hunt for a similar restaurant- not greasy, light and flavorful, with owners/staff who are happy to see customers.
We've been enjoying the food at Jimy Wen's for a while now. If we happen to have Chinese food at another restaurant it's because Jimy Wen's is closed that day. The others Always disappoint and remind us why we enjoy the food here so much.
Jimy Wen's has Always served us fresh food made to order and it's never been great. When we've gone to other Chinese restaurants I always ask questions. Most every place we've gone to says that they make sauces once or twice a week. There's even been a few that say that they make some of their sauces once every week or 2 and just reheat them. At Jimy Wen's even the sauces are made Fresh when we order! I really enjoy knowing that when we order something it's not just reheated and put on my plate but made Fresh when I place my order. Great food is worth the wait!
Thank you, Jimy,...
Read moreWe had butterflied fried shrimp a chicken salad, pot stickers, and barbecued pork chop suey chow mein it was amazing the chow mein was great total dinner for two 5515 plus tax and Tip. the service was excellent they came to our tables at good intervals didn't talk too much and let us have a private conversation without interrupting I'll come back.
Tonight April 5th 2023 I made my second trip back toJimy wins since the pandemic the crowd was kind of small the service was way good again. I snapped some pictures of the menu that we ate tonight the food is excellent the barbecued pork chop suey chow mein over noodles is insanely good. We had the shrimp again. You ordered the combination sizzling entree. And of course the world famous orange chicken now I don't normally like chicken and almost any form but this chicken is amazing it melts in your mouth has a great flavor and it just seemed to make the meal complete the other dishes were also equally amazing the sizzling entree is an incredible incredible dish served right there on a hot Skillet very fresh ours had beef chicken shrimp and several other types of Edibles vegetables mushrooms onions etc etc. One thing to know this is a family business and the pride of ownership and how the business runs is evident in that everything is done correctly. There's also a nice little bar although I do not partake an alcohol and have not for over 32 years it is nice to know that when I take someone to dinner and they would like a nice beer or something like that it's available. This place tonight has made my permanent dining list it will be in my rotation for my nights out in town. The atmosphere is quiet and calm although it could get loud if it was full we were only about 30% full tonight so that means on Friday I expect you all to be here trying out the dishes I post...
Read moreI went there yesterday at 4 pm and it wasn't open yet it was supposed to be but it wasnt so we waited like 15 more min finally it opened. The server was very nice and polite we ordered are food to go. My husband ordered the orange chicken combo and I ordered the sweet and sour chicken, egg roll, and fried shrimp. We received our food in like 10 mins. Got home and opened the box and I was really unhappy, I was expecting Chinese food and it looked like something u would get at the Cherry auction or from the fulton mall, not authentic. So my sweet and sour chicken was like chicken jerky, and the ss sauce had a weird taste, so i didn't eat it and the rice looked nuthing like fried rice and tasted flavorless. The fried shrimp smelled and tasted overlly fishy and the egg roll was nasty and tasted weird only thing I could eat was the noodles that was supposed to be chow mein i was lucky to get one piece of some type of veggie. My husbands Orange chicken was way over cooked to the point of being orange chicken jerky. We wasted 26 dollars and ended up eating Mcdonalds chicken nuggets. We only went there because channel 30 said it was...
