I live 5 doors down from this place. I was beyond excited to have another food option in my neighborhood, so I left a generous tip as I believe in supporting my local small businesses.
I was sincerely disappointed at the very long wait (over 15 min to receiving 1 sandwhich, it was not particularly busy) and not one of the servers ever checked on it or even offered me a drink while I waited, even though I chatted with several of them.
I frankly feel that this visit earned a 2 star rating at best, however I do not have the heart to lower their rating so much seeing as they are a brand new business and I genuinely want to see them succeed.
Being Italian, I was excited to see an Italian deli just 200 feet from my house. Based on the prices, I was looking forward to a gourmet treat. The sandwhich was fairly bland as the condiments were scarce and the bread was plain white with no decent crust. I'm very disgusted to say that Subway has better bread than the "gormet" Italian deli, and I detest Subway. Additionally, 1 sandwich certainly should not take 15 minutes to prepare with 5 to 8 people in the kitchen.
I hope these are simply growing pains that will be corrected with time, however, I felt quite disappointed that I left a tip as the service was basic at best and the food is of a similar category. I will try them again and adjust my review accordingly.
I would recommend others try them as well, and hopefully my experience is an...
Read moreThis place has the coolest vibe. The staff are extremely friendly and they have my absolute favorite salad of all time, The Farro Salad. I live several hours away and every time work brings me into the area, Moto's is the first place I go for that salad. I'm obsessed! The only downside is that 1-2 times they left certain ingredients in that I asked to not be on there. It's not enough to put me off from going there but when it happens it's inconvenient. All I have to do is remind myself to check the salad before I leave (I always do takeout because I'm on the go) so it's not a big deal to me. Just want to mention it for the folks that are like me who ask for some ingredients to be left off. I wish they had a location close to me, I'd have salad every day! Oh, and their citrus vinaigrette is to die for, I wish they would sell it because I'd...
Read moreFinally! A new master of the delicatessen arts and one of our very own! Possibly the best sandwich I’ve ever had and I try sandwiches every where I go. Focaccia bread made fresh in house, the most delicious prosciutto cut so thin I could see through it, the softest and most moist slab of mozzarella cheese, and a gorgeous heirloom tomato. All drizzled with superb olive oil and a pinch of dry herbs. If you’re wondering what your sandwiches have been missing all these years, it’s quality olive oil over the bread. Beautifully designed and decorated, large interior with spaced out seating and a few tables out front to enjoy the Van Ness view. Biggest thanks to the owner and chef who made me happiness and love...
