Hadn't been here in a while, so when I did stop, was surprised to find it pleasantly redecorated and a menu featuring many of the same dishes as well as some exciting new ones. Still family owned and operated, with the second generation of family in charge. I've had lots of Thai food all over the U.S. and I can say this is some of the best. Had the lemon chicken soup--delicious. It wasn't perfect, but it was very, very good. I would have liked a little less lemon to let the coconut shine brighter, but I had no problem scarfing it down. The chicken was a bit tough; maybe cooked a little fast or the soup not having hours to simmer. I'm willing to bet if I had been in later in the day (in about 3:30 p.m.) it would have had longer to tenderize. Even with those relatively minor flaws, it was superb. This soup is such a balance of flavors that it can be a little tricky to get it right, but I can say it was done right! I wish they had half-orders of the soups as I would have loved to get an entree as well but didn't want to get too full. I hope the owners consider this as I think it would add to sales of the amazing, flavorful soups. Prices are reasonable and service is friendly and fairly fast.
Can't wait to try their lunch buffet during the week. Will be trying several differnet entrees in the near future. Prayers for the original owner/operator of the place; he is very ill. He is missed but his nieces are doing a great job, with the help and support of many family members. I am sure he is proud of them and happy that his life's work will go on. I plan to be a regular customer and will post with each new visit. I so want them to succeed for very...
Read moreWow- easily the best Thai I’ve had in the Twin Cities. My party ordered vegetarian egg rolls, sai gok, gaeng ped pla (fish curry), drunken noodles with extra mixed veggies, and the pad kra pao kai dao with fried tofu. The manager was extremely friendly and welcoming, he offered multiple recommendations and even threw in free sticky rice for us to enjoy with the sai gok! We truly could not have asked for better service.
The sai gok was delicious, probably the most flavorful sausages I have ever had. They were nicely spiced with notes of ginger and a well-balanced salsa to accompany it.
The drunken noodles were amazing. Usually I struggle with restaurants that serve them dry but these were served with a great amount of flavorful sauce. We ordered this at a medium spice level which was absolutely perfect and nowhere near too spicy. Also, the chili oil they have is amazing! But definitely be careful as it does get pretty hot.
The pad kra pao kai dao with fried tofu was also excellent. We ordered it at a medium spice level and we finished the entire plate.
My favorite dish was the gaeng ped pla. I ordered this at the hot spice level. I was expecting it to be substantially spicier than the drunken noodles, but I think the creaminess of the curry balanced it out. It still did leave a nice burning sensation though. The fish was beautifully cooked and flaked apart, they also give a lot of it in huge chunks which I really enjoyed.
We had an amazing experience at The King’s Thai Cuisine and definitely plan to return soon for the delicious food and...
Read moreLet's just stop what we're doing and read this. I've been to quite a few Thai restaurants in my life, but this one stands far out from the rest. The food is amazing but as I always say, it's never going to be the only thing that makes a restaurant spectacular. The service does. And that's what you get here. Not only is the food in this family-owned and operated restaurant the best in terms of food, but the owners are some of the most gracious people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. And you can never have enough of that.
Now we can discuss the food. First of all, the meat they use is all halal (chicken and beef) which has me double sold on this place. There aren't many Asian restaurants in Minneapolis/st. Paul that have halal cuisine. This restaurant has a leg up for just that reason alone for me.
We ordered a number of things: chicken satay, pad see ew, pad Thai, pho, and chicken fried rice. The owners brought us some additional entrees: the tomyum soup, the thai basil chicken and an off-the-menu item they are thinking of adding to the menu: a chicken and vegetable curry.
The food was some of the most flavorful food I've ever had. Everything is made fresh. The pad see ew was a favorite, the chicken satay was succulent, the fried rice was delicious, the basil chicken was so tasty, and I think the tomyum soup was one of the most flavorful soups I've had in a long time.
I would recommend this place a 1000%. If you're in the area and looking for Thai food, this is the...
