Shipley Do-Nuts — Restaurant in Friendswood

We haven't been customers for a long time, but they're a little better than the donut shop closer to our house. While in there yesterday I witnessed a woman coating the tops of donuts by hand with no gloves on. She wiped her nose with one hand and continued on! I asked to speak to the manager who told me that the icing get stuck to the gloves, but hands are washed before and after icing our donuts. Really?!!! So they expect us to trust an honor system concerning hygiene? They've lost another customer. I shudder to think what happens behind the front counter, as the woman was in plain sight near the front counter! Follow up: What's unfortunate is the generic response to my complaint. I requested to speak to a manager after witnessing your employee dipping donuts in frosting bare handed...no use of sanitary gloves. To this day I'm not sure the lady I spoke with was actually a manager. Her excuse was that the frosting sticks to the gloves, but she stated that the employees who top the donuts in frosting wash their hands before and after the task. OLD ICE COLD Donuts served daily!, deserves 0 stars, manager (Montse) is not available until Noon? I placed an order 1hr earlier for 7:30AM pick-up and I was told Donuts are made fresh on the phone, when I got there they had my 3 dozen boxes wide open on counter for everyone to breathe on and the temperature of donuts where ICE Cold, donuts tasted BLAND. I told the servers and they just laughed and said "we make these Donuts at 4am and what do you expect" they are fresh, I asked her why all boxes of my order were left on counter in an open box, she said "oh I don't know", I even translated the whole conversation in Spanish and she still told me the same story and then thought it was funny and passed the phone to her co-worker so I had to explain myself 2x, what a waste, do yourself a favor and drive extra miles to the next Shipley's in the next town over, $30 for Donuts OLD and ICE Cold, I'm better off buying them in frozen section at Kroger's, NO MANAGER on duty to resolve poor service and...

It's a great store with great food, but come on guys. Just get the order right. Cane in this morning and my order was half a dozen glazed donuts, half a dozen kolaches no cheese, 2 blueberry glaze, 2 bovarian filled, 2 plain cake glaze, with an additional 2 jalapeño and cheese kolache. After correcting a mistake in store and getting home, looking at the food, all 8 kolaches were just cheese and sausage, no jalapeño kolache, the plain cake wasnt glazed and the half dozen of kolache had cheese, which my step brother cannot eat now. Im not necessarily mad enough to go get my order replaced, but enough to leave a review stating that i am a bit upset with the service provided at this location. Hopefully they get things straightened up and dont mess up...
