Just came back from dinner at this place. Have been coming here since they opened a few years ago. Hit and miss would be complimentary. In the past they couldn't get the dinners cooked the way they were ordered. Order a hamburger medium, it comes out raw. They take it back and it comes back well-well done. Fries come out cold. Tonight they had the beer we wanted (surprise since they were out of it the last two times we were there). Ordered French dip sandwich. Came out perfectly. My wife's turkey / pulled pork sandwich was also perfect. We had a coupon sent to us by 54th Street that offered $10.00 off on orders of $30.00 or more. Our bill came to $54.00. I put my credit card and the coupon card in the shot glass with the paper invoice. The waitress came back with a tablet with the original amount of the bill and no $10.00 credit. When I asked her about it she said she didn't see the coupon card. So off she goes to the "manager". Every other store/restaurant/ business on the planet would just run a credit for the mistaken amount and then run the correct amount. But not 54th Street. The manager explained that they are now using tablets to run credit cards and the amount had already been run. SO?? The "old style" credit card readers also put the charge on your credit card immediately after they are swiped. You can run a credit as easily as a charge. Then he said that it would end up putting a hold for the new charge on my card. I told him that a $45 hold charge on a credit card with a $35,000 credit limit wouldn't make much difference. But he still wouldn't do it. When we left the waitress called out " Come back soon!" I had about 10 quick responses I wanted to answer with but held back and just said "I don't think so". So they basically stole $10.00 from us since the coupon card expires in 4 days. But the manager said "Oh, they never expire. They're just like Bed Bath & Beyond". Too bad he doesn't know that Bed Bath & Beyond coupons now expire. So there is another place he shouldn't be working. Too many missteps on basic restaurant management. Not worth the...
Read moreWow. This is the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had.
My friend and I decided to come here for dinner and drinks. Drinks were great. Bartender was great. The appetizer that we got (nachos) were delicious!
This is where things took a turn.
Dinner was horrible. We both ordered the sirloin with Mac and cheese. I ordered a salad, while my friend ordered soup. His soup came out cold. And I mean, COLD.
While the sides were good, once we cut into the steaks, we find out that they are completely raw on the inside to the point where it’s a health violation (friend that was with me was an executive chef at a restaurant that cooks steak for years, he would know). We hand the steaks back and when they come out again, they’re well done. We both ordered medium rare, so they weren’t even close to right either time. We told them about the fact that they weren’t cooked correctly again but sucked it up and ate them bc we didn’t want to have to wait for another steak and just wanted to get out of there at that point.
Once we got our check, we found out that we were overcharged. The menu said that the sirloin was $18 and that it came with a side and a salad. We were not communicated to that a side and a salad cost extra, and assumed that the extra charge was for premium sides only. We were told that it just automatically comes with a regular side and salad.
We didn’t want to be those people, but we spoke to a manager afterwards bc it was just that bad.
To sum it all up, we had a soup come out cold, the steaks screwed up twice, and we were overcharged. Absolutely horrible experience.
To anyone reading this, the colony location is MUCH better. We never will come here going forward.
Update 1 hour later: Friend got food poisoning and just texted me that he vomited from the food. After looking at the other reviews, considering how many of them mentioned raw food and food poisoning, we are clearly not the only ones....
Read moreMy husband and I love this place!!! We have been to 2 different locations and this one has easily become the favorite. We came here tonight, after I had gotten off work. I really had a taste for 54th, and even though I work, not even 5 mins from one location, we made the extra trip to this location. Our server Hadassah was amazing, taking our drink, appetizer, and entree order in a timely manner, as well as, continually, coming back to check on us. She did everything she could to make sure we had an enjoyable experience, even though, it seemed as if the kitchen was out to do the opposite. We had issues with the temperature, as well as the quality, of several of the dishes, and in one case, they ran out of ingredients, after we had placed our order and had been waiting for a half hour! We couldn't believe we had that many issues, because we had never had one issue, in all the other times we had been there. However, we did notice it was unusually busy, and had never seen that many people in there, especially, at that time of night. We ended up having do many different issues, though, that our server ended up getting a manager for us. Steven Lopez made sure to make up for the bad experience we had, and then some. He explained to us that the kitchen ended up completely unprepared for the unexpected rush of customers, due to the game, that they ended up backed up, in getting orders out. We knew there had to be some explanation. Steven and Haddassah did everything they could to be accommodating. And, they were so apologetic for things that were completely out of their control. This place is still a favorite, and our server and that manner are the reason for that!!! Would definitely...
