Weekend lunchtime experience.
We were greeted warmly at the door and requested to sit at the bar. After seating, water was served, and shortly followed by asking for our drink order. My spouse ordered a paloma. The owner/bartender asked if they would like it smoked, and having never experienced a smoked paloma, of course yes! It was greatly enjoyed. We ordered the Halloumi cheese app, and unfortunately they were out. Honestly, I know how hard it is to find. We chose the olive and feta app. It was good, the feta definitely made the plate. I was enjoying one of their finer tequilas, so we were in no rush to order the main. I settled on the lamb shank and my spouse had chicken shish. The lamb was out of this world. I think it was very cute that it was plated with a knife. Cute decoration. Worthless in utility because this lamb simply fell off the shank. Perfectly seasoned and texture. It was served with rice and bean salad. The rice is not your standard basmati/generic rice. Very flavorful and perfectly cooked. The bean salad was amazing, parsley, red onion, lemon, white beans in olive oil and some kind of magic seasonings. As we enjoyed our meal and drinks, we began to ponder their lentil soup. We personally think it's the definitive marker of a well thought out menu for Mediterranean fare. A lot of restaurants ignore their souls. Well, not Selda. I thought it was a little thin, but the balance of the spices, especially the red pepper was near perfect. I would have preferred to see red lentils instead of green, but that is a minor deviation from the rest of the experience to make it a major detriment. This new place in Frisco is definitely going into our weekly restaurant rotation. Top notch in every category. We chose an app as our finisher, stuffed dates. Wow. We were served Turkish tea with the dish which served as a perfect balancer to the richness of the goat cheese stuffed olives. Again, I am overly impressed with everything about this establishment. Highly recommend if you enjoy food and all of its intricacies. Even if you're not a fan of Mediterranean fare, give this place a try. You will...
Read moreAs a well-known regular at this Mediterranean Turkish restaurant, I can confidently say: this place is as close as it gets to dining in Turkey without leaving the city. The flavors here aren’t just inspired by Turkish cuisine — they are true to the source, crafted with the kind of care and authenticity that brings back memories of meals shared in Turkish homes and coastal towns.
The atmosphere is warm and familiar, blending a relaxed Mediterranean feel with subtle Turkish touches — nothing overdone, just genuine hospitality and attention to detail.
Two dishes in particular capture the soul of the menu. The Urfa kebab is a masterpiece — rich in flavor yet milder in spice than its Adana counterpart, allowing the taste of the meat to shine through. It’s perfectly grilled and always juicy. Then there’s the Arnavut ciğeri — tender, lightly fried cubes of liver served with onions, parsley, and sumac. It’s not a dish you find just anywhere, and here it’s done exactly as it should be: flavorful, balanced, and beautifully plated.
What truly sets this place apart, though, is the staff — and Gülşen, in particular. Gülşen is the heart of the front-of-house. Her service is warm, graceful, and attentive without ever being intrusive. She remembers her regulars, knows the menu inside out, and always makes thoughtful recommendations. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, she treats every guest like family. It’s that personal touch — her smile, her hospitality, her professionalism — that makes the entire experience unforgettable.
This restaurant is more than just a place to eat. It’s a place to reconnect with the taste of home, the warmth of Turkish culture, and the joy of truly good food. Highly recommended —...
Read moreMy mother-in-law's friend told her about Selda and she excitedly told me that they have gluten-free options as I have Celiac disease.
We tried making reservations by calling multiple times and we couldn't get through to someone for a party of 5. We ended up just walking in for dinner the next day and were seated immediately despite the restaurant being very busy.
This restaurant has a marked menu for gluten-free and vegetarian options. I asked the waitress if she knew if they cooked all the fried foods together, which would mean many items aren't actually gluten-free. At first she said everything was cooked together she thought but she would ask the kitchen staff. She came back and said they used a dedicated fryer. Hopefully that's true. If wish the wait staff was trained to answer questions about that issue.
The complimentary bread isn't gluten-free but came with a yogurt cheese (probably labneh) that my in-laws really liked.
Service was very fast with our food.
I tried:
Fried Cauliflower $14.49 Halloumi $14.49 Lamb shank (my order) $27.95 Beef shish (husband's order) $24.84 Turkish coffee $5.18
The cauliflower looks small but it was actually a big family style bowl. It was incredible and my favorite thing that we ordered.
!!! Why this isn't a 4 star review !!!
One thing that I definitely didn't like is that the menu has whole numbers for their pricing but the receipt has cents added onto the price. They are rounding down the menu price while charging more than the listed menu price. I am pretty sure it's illegal to list something as "$1" but then on the receipt charge $1.99, $1.49 or even...
