"Not all heros wear capes" Sometimes it's an HEB t-shirt. 😅
I wanted to express my gratitude regarding an incident that occurred this morning at the 4800 Main St HEB location. This morning I went grocery shopping for the week and although I do a pretty good job at planning out my grocery list, it wasn't until I was all checked out and told my total from the cashier that I realized I had severely miscalculated.
Because I use a strict budgeting system and took the advice of my financial advisor, I purchased gift cards with a set limit to make sure I stay within my budget range, however, as I stated before, today I had gone over so the only thing I could think of was to void some items so that I wouldn't hold up the line any longer. This actually caused another issue since I had already paid with my gift cards and a lottery ticket, I couldn't void any items without voiding the entire transaction. So I figured I would take the L and just pay with the money I had in my bank account (my DO NOT TOUCH funds) only to realize HEB doesn't take Apple Pay and I had purposely left my debit card at home to avoid over spending. I had my Venmo card for emergencies but it wasn't allowing me to transfer. (of course)
In the end, I ended up purchasing another HEB e-Gift card which meant they had to shut down the register and wait for it to send to me. The point in all of this (FINALLY) 😅 is that the entire time the cashier KATIE H. was more than empathetic and compassionate with me through it all! Even when she had to call over her manager ANTHONY to assist, she reassured me not to worry and that everything was fine. ANTHONY too was extremely kind and he even offered to pay the difference for me if it came down to it. Of course I wasn't going to allow him to do so, but just the thought of a stranger going out of their way to do something kind for me touched me deeply. In the end all 3 employees went above and beyond to assist me. (That's how bad it was)
Like I said before, they even had to shut down the register so sorry to the gentleman who wasn't able to get his cigarettes. (or maybe I did his lungs a favor?) lol I didn't get the last lady's name but if you're reading this you know who you are and I am SO GRATEFUL for all of you for being so caring and patient with me the entire time! I learned a lesson going forward but the main one was that there are still kind hearted people in this world and that was the bigger picture today. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart and I will continue to shop and spend my money at HEB because of people like you. cough cough they...
Read moreHallelujah, Holy HEB! I lived 16 years in San Antonio and I'm so happy 😊 to have my HEB back! So what's the big deal? It's just a grocery store right? Au contraire ! HEB is amazing! Let me count the ways.
Variety. HEB is well stocked with items from everywhere. Israeli wine, French cheese, Italian prosciutto, Texas produce, and local specialty items. If TJs was on steroids basically.
Wine and Beer department. Every HEB places beer and wine experts in these departments to help you find your perfect pairing. Do not shy away if they ask if you need help. Lean into their expertise and come out with something amazing 🤩! Tonight Jake was our man! Incredible service and no doubt our pick-a-six bags have some amazing finds. Oh yeah! Pick-a-six! Don't know what beer you want? Grab a variety and explore!
Customer Service. While we're on the subject of Jake, our wine guy, let's talk about HEB's INCREDIBLE employees. I also became besties with BJ in the cheese department. She shared my love for European cheese 🧀 and just like Jake, was an expert at her job and station. HEB employees are amazing. As a former San Antonio resident, I knew many HEB employees, and none of them had a bad word to say about this company. A company that takes care of their people, has happy people. Every HEB employee who crossed out path tonight had a smile and made a genuine connection. God bless them all.
Great deals and prices. Meal deal coupons and great prices will win your business if nothing else will.
Responsibility. They work hard to keep great, affordable organic and bulk options. They push BYO bags and have great reusable bags for sale. They buy and support local businesses, ranchers and farmers. They also get involved in their community.
Store Brand. HEB brand items can be better than name brands. Not kidding! I once knew someone in their R&D and loved hearing about how much went into their brand. Quality through and through.
CUPHOLDERS ON CARTS! Why this feature is not standard on every shopping 🛒 cart is beyond me. It should be. Also a place for your phone.
I don't want to give too much away. If you've read this far, I'm impressed 😁👍. I think I've said enough. I'll let you fall in love with HEB yourself and find your own things you love about it.
HEB, thank you for...
Read moreToday they decided to card me to buy tobacco where I’m clearly twice the legal age. Most times they don’t card me therefore I didn’t think twice when I left my home, also I was in the middle of packing for a long trip. However, Princess made it a big deal. I feel like she just didn’t want to walk over an unlock tobacco case in order to mess with her check completions ratio. I had back up picture on my phone but wouldn’t accept that. This low rating is specifically for the inconsistencies. Customer service was also lacking, unfriendly and the completely disregarded that I had other items and started ringing up the next person behind me once I asked for a manager. Karen was the manager on duty and Princess was the cashier. Karen was not much help either.
I came back after I frantically grabbed my wallet. I had an ID in there however it was expired. Night before I was out with my wife left my IDs in my jacket. Princess grimmer with satisfaction told me the id is expired this is expired and once again started rigging the next person before I could even grasp what was happening.
My item (non tobacco) from before was on her counter but she didn’t ask if I still wanted those. I was furious and went to speak again with Karen this time angry solely at how she was treating and disregarding me
Again Karen was not much help, only apologized and said we don’t accept expired IDs. I’m not sure she understood what really got to me was the customer experience, lack of inconsistency, feeling targeted and not valued.
Immediately as I walk away I turn around and see Karen laughing at me with a consumer. I felt like crap leaving a place that I spend hundreds is not thousands on a monthly basis.
I will not be buying tobacco at this place again. I wish I could confidently say I won’t be buying food either, but the market is close to...
