This was my first time. I just got done with my visit and was extremely disappointed. I should've left when I tried to reserve a lane and the machine wouldn't take my payment multiple times until we tried inputting my card in. It was understandable since I was using tap pay, so it didn't really matter.. but I felt that could've been a sign for me.
Okay, let me just start off by saying that I know this isn't a 5 star restaurant, but serving food is serving food, no matter what level of dining it is. First, no one came by when we got to our lane to see if we wanted to order anything. Okay, that's fine... maybe, you're short staff or busy with someone else. I wasn't even sure if I should go to the restaurant or food counter area to order... so I asked an employee. They sent a server and we ordered. When we finally got our drinks, we didn't get any straws. I ordered nachos and a deep dish pizza. They came at different times, but each time neither one brought napkins or plates... these are shareables! The nachos came out first, so after trying to wait on the pizza to see if maybe they'll bring something.. I decided to ask for napkins. After the pizza arrived and not seeing any plates, I just left it alone. A little later, my son wanted fries, so I ordered fries and asked for utensils... I was barely eating since we were bowling and had finger food. Everyone touches these bowling balls and also wasn't trying to have greasy hands getting it all over the balls either. Well, the server said she was going to get it at the time of ordering fries, but I didn't get it until it was time to pay.. when she "realized" she forgot to bring it. But I felt like she probably noticed before that.. she had come to our table at least once and had glanced at our table a couple of times when in the area. I don't think it was a coincidence that she remembered when it came time to pay and tip.. cause obviously she was aware enough to notice when our time was coming to and end to come collect payment. And even then, she brought silverware.. when it was time to leave? Maybe, plastic utensils?!.. That's just for the food experience... During our game, one of the staff took our ball trainer/ slide thing to bring to another lane a few lanes over, so i asked if he had another one for my daughter. Lastly, when our game ended, we barely had a chance to get ready to leave the same guy came to ask us to step away from the lane cause there was another reservation. Wow, The urgency and awareness now.... but any other time none of the staff was aware enough to see that we didn't have any of the obvious that should have been brought with our food or that I had a toddler that needed the bowling assist.
I only gave 2 stars, because I was having somewhat of a fun time with my children when I wasn't looking for someone for help with something. It definitely put a damper on my mood. These are all little things that didn't have to interrupt our ONE HOUR visit so many times.
I come from a server background for many years in many types of establishments, mostly fast-paced. Here is a tip.. With that many servers serving the table, the very first one putting in the order could've at least started the set up with knowledge of what was ordered. Honestly, it looks like y'all making your job harder than it is.
I still gave a decent tip. I know what it is like working for mainly tips, but I would understand if someone without food and beverage experience didn't feel it was deserved.
I hope it was an off-day but gotta step...
Read moreI hosted a party here recently, and I have to say Main Event Frisco failed at just about every possible chance. They lost our reservation for the party TWICE. The first time was early on, and I realized I hadn't received the contract for our party to sign electronically, I called and spoke to Valentina in the sales office, and she apologized, fixed it, and offered a VR game to each of the kids in the party. She was the only redeeming part of our experience. Everyone else needs some serious lessons in customer service. When we showed up the day of the party, they said they couldn't find out reservation, but just kinda stared at us, not offering to go and search under a phone number (which it was allegedly found under), they just didn't really seem to know or care what to do. I asked to speak to a manager, and a young female is who came out and was the one who just stood there staring, not really knowing what to do, so I requested she please go search by my phone number or email with a member of their sales team. There was no apologies, she just came out and said they found it, but we needed to wait while another party finished, which was fine, no big deal. They never gave the kids bowling shoes, didn't offer us so much as water while we waited 30min to be taken to the bowling lane. Our party host didn't refill drinks, our burners were turned off on the buffet food, so it just sat there getting cold. Our party host Gabby C., was nice, but the fact that she got a sizeable tip for less than an hour of sub-par service, and the moment I signed the receipt, I never saw her again. It makes me wish I had given her the tip that was more appropriate for sub par service. Gabby rushed us through the bowling portion which is the first hour, of the 3hr party time. At 35min she was asking if we were ready to move on in about 10min, so I said, well we still have time, and I didn't want to be short changed. I'm sure her rushing us along was per management, since our reservation was lost, and I imagine they were trying not to get too far behind. But according to the contract, we were supposed to get 1hour of bowling, which included a buffet during that time. So she not only short changed us on the entire party time, and specifically bowling, then the kids had less time to eat. Gabby told me she would box leftover food, and help us get set up at a table, so the kids would still be able to eat, but that did not happen. She didn't box a single thing, she only brought the check right after they moved us (ten minutes early), and she stood there making me feel uncomfortable obligated to sign right then. She told me she would still be available, and check on us, but as already stated, I never saw her again. I spent around $400 for a small party of 9kids, and I just feel cheated and disappointed. I hope that I save another hard-working parent from throwing their money away on such a terrible experience. I filled out the online survey with Main Event Frisco after our event, and no one reached out to follow up, so I decided to post this here. If I am going to be out a fair amount of money, with no apology , or attempt at making things right, it's only fair that other people should have a heads up and a...
Read moreI waited 2 weeks to write this review because I was told that someone from the corporate office would reach out to me but that never happened.
We recently had my son’s birthday party at the main event and it was chaos after chaos. I was told to book early because the events get filled quickly. I booked over a month in advance only to find out shortly before the actual party that all the rooms were over booked. This meant we didn’t get a room nor a host despite the fact that’s what we signed up for and reserved early as told by the main event personnel. Each staff from the main event had different variations of explanations as to why there was confusion with the booking process. Fearing lack of organization, I even went to the event ahead of time and prereserved food/activity times in advance to plan the day without a host.
Consistent with the lack of reservation process, on the day of the event our fun cards didn’t work on 3 separate occasions. The kids were left standing around waiting for the new cards to come while time passed. The food wasn’t ready for our guests as reserved and we were left to get our own drinks without guidance. I was even scolded by one of the staff (Austin) that without a host that’s what happens. Except this was not what I reserved. I booked ahead for a room and a host so I wouldn’t be running around on the day of my son’s party without being able to mingle with my guests.
While we were given extra virtual reality sessions which was great in theory, for the most part there was no one managing the sessions so the kids couldn’t enjoy the free add ons. When I asked for help, Austin, (one of the event coordinator, who I was corresponding with to make my reservation) rolled his eyes and said he was hosting other guests and walked away. He never followed up afterwards. Kayla, who was one of the managers basically said they were over booked, short staffed.
Thankfully, Brandon, the bartender and Katie, one of the staff, saved the day by making sure the kids got to extra sessions of virtual reality and gave me extra future laser tags sessions. They saw how stressed I was and actually cared about the situation. If it wasn’t for those two, I would’ve given these guys no stars.
I understand it’s difficult with covid to find staffing but it looked like main event completely overbooked irrespective of the staffing situation. I would’ve rather that the facility be forthright with the customers from the beginning so that I could find other options rather than left stranded. I debated whether to have my second son’s birthday party at main event this month. But after not hearing back from the management as promised I decided against it.
I want the main event headquarters to know that more than add ons or discounts I would’ve much rather had staff who cared like Brandon and Katie. I now also learned that there are other options in town and it won’t be long until people figure that out rather than deal with the chaotic stress. This is disappointing because the concept of the main event is great but without decent customer service the stress is definitely not worth the fun that the...
