After finishing my dentist appointment, my mother and I went next door to Marina’s Indian cuisine. After not eating all day I was bound to like anything that entered my mouth but I was mistaken. To start off we were seated in an empty restaurant which was a bit off putting. After being seated my mom noticed the odd smell resonating with the table which I could confirm. In a few moments a gentleman came to take our order and didn’t know tamil which came as a big surprise to us but allowed my mom and I to talk poorly about the food right in front of their faces. The first appetizer was the gobi manchurian which upon first bite tasted good including the fact that we haven’t eaten all day but upon our 3rd and 4th bite we grew distasteful of the food. There was no crisp to the gobi and the mushiness grossed me out. It’s like eating a crispy apple sauce and if that sounds appetizing to you then i suggest visiting a psychiatrist soon. Following this I had the bai veetu biriyani which means house biriyani in english and if that is a representation of your crib i don’t want to be there ever again. Extremely bland biriyani and i suffered insane fatigue while eating this dish. I took sips of the water and it genuinely had more flavor than the biriyani itself. Absolutely terrible dish and as a person from chennai myself I can’t believe this restaurant claims to represent us. Miserable biriyani and the store owner needs to be interrogated for making and serving this. I thought it couldn’t get worse but my god the samosa chat came out. It looked like cereal with no milk. When it was served I gasped and even shed a tear. The dish was so terrible that the server had to inform us that the actual chaat was under all the crisps and when i dug under the horror continued. It was just peas. I don’t eat vegetable and to just see 100s of peas made me want to vomit and cry in my mother’s arms. My mom laughed before realizing that this wasn’t a joke. She then cursed in tamil before crumbling the entirety of the restaurant with the snap of her fingers. Lastly I had to find a server to ask for the check because I was so eager to leave. Absolutely terrible food and will never ever step into this restaurant ever again or within 3 miles of this place. Absolutely terrible and puts a bad name on the beautiful and dangerous city of chennai.

Here’s your brutally honest review with that detail included: I had the absolute misfortune of dining at this so-called “Indian restaurant,” and let me tell you, it was a complete disaster from start to finish. If you’re looking for overpriced, poorly cooked food with laughable portion sizes, then by all means, give this place a try. Otherwise, save yourself the disappointment and go literally anywhere else. First off, the masala in the curry was raw—not just undercooked, but completely unblended and overpowering. It was as if they dumped spices straight into the dish without bothering to sauté or balance the flavors. Instead of a rich, aromatic curry, I was served a gritty, bitter mess that tasted more like a poorly mixed spice packet than an actual dish. Have they even heard of the concept of cooking masala properly? Because clearly, they haven’t. And let’s talk about the ridiculous portion sizes. I ordered a curry, and what did I get? Four to five tiny pieces of meat floating in a pool of poorly seasoned gravy. Are they running a fine-dining scam, or are they just that stingy? If I wanted to be left hungry after spending my hard-earned money, I’d rather eat air. The service? A complete joke. Our waiter was far more interested in flirting with his girlfriend at a nearby table than actually doing his job. I had to practically wave him down just to get basic things. Clearly, serving customers is his side hobby, and his main focus is impressing his date. Honestly, this place is an embarrassment to Indian cuisine. Indian food is supposed to be flavorful, rich, and satisfying, but this was nothing but a bland, watery, overpriced disaster. If you respect your taste buds and your wallet, STAY FAR AWAY from this place.

I stopped by here for dinner. It did seem a little understaffed and the service desk was on the opposite side of the restaurant. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be seated so I walked up to the front and I was asked to take a seat at a table. A few minutes after I was handed a menu and a bottle of water. It took a few minutes for the staff to take my order, but it was acceptable because I knew how busy they were. I ordered a Chole Bhature and 2 Parotta with Veg Curry (Veg Korma). They informed me that the Chole Bhature would took 15-20 minutes to make. The Chole Bhature was so worth the wait. The bread was served hot, and it was incredibly fluffy. The Bhature + Chole (Chana Masala) was enough to make me nearly full. I recommend trying this out if you can! The Parottas were so flaky and tasted even better with the Veg Korma. My only complaint was that I wasn’t provided any napkins or silverware. Fortunately, I didn’t make too much of a mess and I was able to clean up in the washroom in the back. For the price I paid for both of these dishes, this was so worth it. I also had enough to take home. I paid at the desk and was informed that they didn’t accept tips (via card) so I provided a cash tip instead. I’ll be back again to try the pizza and curries + naan. I definitely recommend trying out this gem of a restaurant!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Marina Restaurant, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Nestled by the water, the restaurant offers a serene and picturesque setting that perfectly complements its exquisite culinary offerings.

Ambiance: The moment you step into Marina Restaurant, you are greeted by an elegant yet cozy atmosphere. The tasteful decor, soft lighting, and panoramic views of the marina create a relaxing and inviting environment. Whether you’re seated indoors or on the charming outdoor patio, the ambiance is perfect for a romantic dinner, a family gathering, or a celebratory meal.

Service: The service at Marina Restaurant is impeccable. The staff is warm, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations. The pacing of the meal was perfect, allowing us to enjoy each course without feeling rushed.

Food Quality: The highlight of our evening was, without a doubt, the food. Every dish we tried was a masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. We started with the seafood platter, which featured the freshest selection of oysters, shrimp, and crab. For the main course, I opted for the grilled sea bass, which was cooked to perfection and served with a delicious lemon butter sauce. My dining companion raved about the filet mignon, which was tender and flavorful. The dessert menu did not disappoint either; the chocolate fondant was the perfect sweet ending to our meal.

Value for Money: While Marina Restaurant is on the higher end of the price spectrum, the quality of the food, service, and overall experience make it well worth it. The portions are generous, and the ingredients are clearly top-notch. For the level of excellence delivered, I believe it offers great value for money.

Overall Experience: Our visit to Marina Restaurant was nothing short of extraordinary. From the stunning location and delightful ambiance to the outstanding food and impeccable service, every aspect of our dining experience was superb. I highly recommend Marina Restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience by the water. We will definitely...

Many times have I attended Indian restaurants, and many times have I had a variety of opinions. From an early age onwards, I thoroughly enjoyed the great expanse of Indian cuisine, unmatched in its delicate, sometimes even subtle feel on my multitudinous taste buds. After even visiting India, I believed there would be no domain capable of inspiring my tastes like those from the motherland. But a few nights ago, I found myself… surprised. As a cuisine connoisseur, I always search for something new. But I was met with something rather old.

Nostalgia is an emotion, but it can take numerous forms. The experience I’ve had at Marina elegantly presented it in the format of taste. From the opening Dragon Chicken to the final sip of the delicacy colloquially known as “Mango Lassi”, I was presented with the most diverse array of South Indian dishes capable of transcending the Atlantic Ocean and cultural boundaries, placing me firmly on the sandy shores of the Marina beach, a slight hint of the salty sea air. But this restaurant brought me something no amount of food, cost-efficiency, or even elaborate architecture could ever— humanity. I met the most pleasant, humble and genuine human beings I had ever met. It was beyond shame that I would never get to know this man as well as he deserved to be. Brahma Naidu was the most exceptional waiter I have encountered in my 17 years of experience in outdoor tastings. His pleasant welcoming unequivocally left the best first impression I have received in a long time. Do not look further for exceptional service. He is a friend, your friend, the second you become a customer of Marina. So don’t look any further for second-to-none service. At Marina, you are more than a guest and customer. You are a South Indian, welcome to South India’s true cuisine and...
