As a fan of Indian cuisine, I recently dined at Sankalp, a hidden gem located off 121 and Coit on South Service Road. The warm ambiance and inviting aromas wafting through the air captivated me from the moment I stepped inside. The restaurant's decor was warm and elegant, with hints of Indian cultural elements that added to its allure.
Sankalp's menu featured a variety of south and north Indian dishes, and I was especially excited to try their signature appetizers. The Crispy Corn was a revelation - perfectly crispy and drenched in a tangy and spicy glaze, it was an addictive snack that left me wanting more. The Peener Balti, a dish of succulent paneer cubes cooked in a flavorful tomato-based gravy, was a delightful blend of creamy and tangy flavors that melted in my mouth.
Moving on to the main course, the Kaju Curry was a standout. The velvety texture of the rich and creamy cashew nut curry was perfectly complemented by the aromatic spices. The crispy boondi, tangy tamarind chutney, and crunchy sev in the Boondi Bhel, popular street food from India, created a harmonious symphony of taste in my mouth.
With its robust flavors and perfect balance of spices, the Telangana Alu, a traditional potato curry from India's southern region, was a revelation. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of tenderness, and the dish left me wanting more.
The owner, Riddish, offered me the Paan, a traditional Indian mouth freshener made with betel leaves and various sweet and savory fillings, as a perfect palate cleanser. It was a unique and refreshing way to end my meal at Sankalp.
Sankalp's service was flawless, with an attentive and friendly owner and staff who were knowledgeable about the dishes and made me feel right at home. The portions were generous, and the dishes were visually appealing, which added to the overall dining experience.
Finally, my dining experience at Sankalp was a culinary journey through India's diverse flavors. Crispy Corn, Paneer Balti, Kaju Curry, Boondi Bhel, Telangana Alu, and Paan were all outstanding dishes that left me wanting more.
The ambiance, service, and attention to detail all contributed to a memorable dining experience, and I strongly recommend Sankalp to all Indian cuisine enthusiasts seeking an authentic and exquisite dining experience. I can't wait to return and try more of...
Read moreThis was our first time going here and had heard mixed reviews . Then the proximity to home, and the fact that they’re open till 11 was a major factor visit the place.
It’s right off Hwy 121 and has a warm and cozy ambience, that quickly grows on you. The lady who seemed like the owner told us that we can order using the QR codes or we could just take her help. We chose the “Human” approach :-)
We ordered the Tandoori Aloo for starters, along with Dahi Puri, Papdi Chaat, Thayir Vada and the Schezwan Noodles.
The BBQ aloo was in two flavors Mint and Garlic, we chose garlic ! The platter came with grilled potatoes , onions and green peppers. The potatoes were boiled just right and the flavor had the perfect char and also an amazing garlicky flavor. Definitely hit the spot.
The chaat items dahi sev Puri and pappu chaat were customized to our taste with sweet chutney and the lack there of as requested. Surely matched the typical indian street food vibe👏👏
The Dahi vada / Thayir vada was in a beautiful leaf plate, with 4 small medhu vadas that were perfectly soft, easy to cut with a spoon and just like in south India, dunked in a pleasantly seasoned yogurt pool topped with cilantro ! The flavor transported you directly to the streets of Chennai 👍
The last one, and the highlight of the food fare, Schezwan Noodles, the ultimate Indo Chinese dish was laden with sautéed onions, green and red peppers and smothered with schrzwan sauce that was spicy and full of authentic (maybe a pun bcos, Indo-Chinese isn’t really a formal cuisine, but is a very popular variant in India). So if you’re at Sankalp, definitely explore the Indo-Chinese options as I think you won’t be disappointed .
Overall an amazing place for a family meet up, couples retreat or just a bachelor boys hangout, Sankalp hits the high notes on Flavor, Ambience and Service!
So what’re you waiting for , just go ahead and...
Read moreDO NOT ORDER ONLINE!!!!! As of May 20, 2025 Tuesday, their prices have a huge difference. If you order online EVEN FROM THEIR OWN OFFICIAL WEBSITE, you will be charged between $2-$2.5 more on almost every single item.
Here are some of the item my colleague Jay ordered for me. The server was SADIK S.
Manchurian Frankie Website price - $6.99 Online ordering price - $8.99
Dabeli Website price - $5.99 Online ordering price - $4.99
Bombay Bhel Website price - $7.99 Online ordering price - $8.99
Crispy Corn Website price - $6.99 Online ordering price - $8.49
Veg Jaipuri Same price for both - $14.99
Total bill they made - $50.27 inc tax Total bill I paid after confronting the issue - $45.71
You wont see a huge difference at first. It was only $5 extra but for me as a hard working person, every penny counts and if I want to order for 15-20 people, then probably it seems huge. The point here is you cannot display two difference prices on your official website and if you still do then according to the cheaper price policy, you MUST charge customers your cheapest price.
Not only you’ve lost a years old valued customer but also you’ve proved how seriously you take someone’s feedback. Upon confronting the issue with the employee on the phone, his response was very simple - “sorry they haven't updated the menu price on the website. You will be charged the new price.” After 15-20 minutes of argument, he finally agrees to charge me for a lower price. Upon reaching to the restaurant to pick up the order, he charged the new prices. Again after showing every item on their official website, he made a new bill with the original less prices.
If I have to prepare myself just to order some food as if I am going to do the client presentation then I am sorry but I would rather go the some other restaurants and save myself some time and energy where customers and their feedbacks are...
