I am not one to ever write reviews but this last experience with JOYCE (THE OWNER AS SHE SAID) of smallcakes FRISCO was honestly very very disappointing and upsetting. Never have i ever had this experience with smallcakes before you. Your attitude and complete lack of professionalism or respect for a returning and loyal customer is truly disappointing to me. Not only have I been a loyal customer of smallcakes, but my family goes to this location as well. I have ordered cakes and cupcakes for a long time now, and I didn't even mind driving all the way from Fort Worth because of the initial customer service I used to receive. Maria the previous store manager was wonderful and made everyone feel like they were a valuable customer. I made an online order for a cake, as I always do, and when you called to confirm the order, you were acting like I was bothering you. Then why did you call? Even my husband who was by me can attest to this. The attitude I got from you Joyce today was number 1 very unprofessional and you seemed like you didnt care or like you were doing me a favor. No, Ma'am, you are NOT!!!!! I am spending hard-earned money, and the least you could have done is to own up to YOUR behavior and negative attitude. Instead, you told me it's because you had a cold. This place must be under new management because this is not the same small cakes i knew when i first started doing business with y'all. Do better by people Joyce.
REPLY: If you wanted empathy you should have led with "im sorry im not feeling good" - YOU called me i didnt. I would have given you all the grace in the world and would have told you we could have spoken another day when you were feeling better. And yes i remember we spoke the last time too and even then i got a bad vibe from you. Maria was way better thats why i mentioned her. Look at your response even now! lol So sad.    Read moreI went to this location early last week to get a German chocolate cake for my fiancé for her 40th. The two girls I spoke with were very friendly and helpful. I didn't place the order that day however.
I went back a few days later to place the order and there were two different girls working. They didn't really seem interested in helping very much. I placed the order anyway. They wrote down word for word what I wanted on the cake.
I went back a third time to change the order slightly as I obtained a picture I wanted to put on the cake. They said they could do it no problem. My order now consisted of two cakes, both of which were $35.00 each. One German chocolate cake and one regular chocolate cake with an edible picture and specific instructions of what to write on it.
The day of the party, I picked up the cake only to find that what I wanted written on the cake was not written. Yes, it said happy birthday, but that is not what I told them. They had written down exactly what I wanted in their book, but didn't put it on the cake. There was nothing I could do at that point as I was out of time and needed to get back with the cake. So, I sucked it up and left.
When I presented the cakes to everyone, the german chocolate one barely got touched. It was loaded with the German chocolate icing. Way way too much on there. It was a huge waste of my money.

We arrived later in the day so most of the cupcakes were sold out. The icing was soft and the cake was very soft and flavorful. Honestly I would have given this establishment 5 stars except for the fact that the customer service was poor. There were 2 ladies, one which was nice and let us know that most cupcakes were sold out. However, there was a dark hair lady with slightly curly hair that was rude. My husband and I had a few questions since it was our first time and she rolled her eyes the entire time, was snippy in her tone and responses, and didnāt answer our questions properly. She snapped when I asked which cupcakes were left because once again it was our first time and we were unsure. She yelled, āItās on the card!ā If I had been here before or she would had explained that I would had known. I would say we would make this our go to place; however, Iām not so sure with the bad customer service and attitude we received.
