Feel that breeze? That is me fetching the deepest sigh I can muster over yet another overpriced, over hyped hipster taco place.
My dear wife has been wanting to try this place since it opened, so we finally brought her for Mother's Day and it was a total mess. I want to tell you about it, dear internet, but I'm not even sure where to start.
It was rainy when we came, so I thought it strange that the patio was so popular. It was full. When we walked in, there were 6 open tables and 2 occupied ones. I'm guessing everyone went outside because the inside was dirty and messy and gross.
I wiped off a table for my family while the wife went and ordered. 4 tacos ($20, buster.), kid's chicken & tots and 1 elote appetizer and the red velvet cake.
Now, name a thing that can go wrong at a restaurant... Whatever you just said, that's what happened to us.
Actually, the tacos didn't take that long, considering how busy it was. But the kid chicken took quite a bit longer and required a few trips to the counter to remind them. And the elote came after even more trips to the counter. And on one of those trips, it was revealed that another customer, who had been waiting since we got there... The workers has deleted her order. She would have kept waitin till the end of time, I reckon. Would have been an old dry husk of a woman, still waiting for her order that never showed.
The tacos were meh. I got a couple of breakfast tacos because they sounded good on the menu but ended up being dry and bland. My wife got the Cuban Pig, which was actually pretty good. Super duper salty, but that was nice.
The kid's chicken was a tiny bit spicy. Not bad, but my kid hates spicy food and was really sad about it.
The place was filthy. The kitchen was clearly too busy to send anyone out to sweep or mop. It was chaos back there. Training is ongoing, I suppose, this place has been here long enough for this bunch to know how to handle a dinner rush. The people calling orders didn't have their hair secured, either and they kept almost little dragging their hair right across customers' tacos.
Until they get their act together... Avoid this expensive...
