McDonald's — Restaurant in Front Royal

One star because the employees are nice folks, and we've never been disrespected or treated rudely here.

One more star because their McDonald's food tastes like McDonald's food, which is to be expected, but fine.

Everything else...eh. Complaints in no particular order:

This place shuts their iced coffee machine down way, way too early. We're regularly told around 8PM that the machine "isn't working" or "is being cleaned", but sometimes (like today) it's as early as 4:30PM. Is the machine in such bad shape that it always needs repair? Are the employees so incompetent that it takes them hours to clean it? The other McD's in Front Royal (at the other end of town) almost always has their machine going, even after 10PM, even during Covid. It's not like people won't buy iced coffee late at night, and it's not like they have different machines or even different clientele. This is just laziness on the part of this South Street McDonald's. We've asked them several times to explain why this is happening, but no one -- including managers -- seem to know.

Several times people have accepted our order for something, only to find out at the window that, oops, they're actually out of that thing (this was a problem before Covid too). This happens, of course, with the iced coffee orders, but also basic stuff like nuggets or quarter pounders, where we'll be told to wait 10 minutes while they make them. This isn't during the lunch or dinner rush; this is like at 7:30 at night.

There's a new sign on the door recently that says "come on in!" Except all the doors are locked. This is in Virginia, where phase II Covid plans have been in place for over a week and they still don't want to let you in? There's another sign that says "lobby open until 2PM", which is also a lie because the door's still locked, and even were it true, what's the point of that? Open the lobby or close it; pick one. This is especially annoying because the parking and driving setup means that there's a long wait line for the drive thru, and it often extends out...

Will never ever go to this McDonald’s again if I could give it a zero star I would. Went 11/8 at approximately 745 at night placed my order never saw the screen of what I ordered the drive-through window person just told me the price so I paid it and went to the second window for the pick up the order was incorrect so I said something to the two boys in the window and they told me just read your receipt and made rude noises. I then Went around to order what I was missing and I said something to the very nice girl at the window who wasn’t the first person that was there and she said well let the manager know meanwhile the first guy came up and was listening and then made rude noises also. When I went to the second window to pick up my second time around it was a different young man there and I asked him if I could speak to a manager well lo and behold it was the guy that had made the rude noises from the first window he said I wasn’t trying to be rude I said you were making rude noises at me these young men were making rude noises at me he said which ones I said I don’t know they skedaddled so I told him the noises were uncalled for the attitude from the Two young men and him for IAM the customer I had a legitimate complaint I didn’t need the rude noises or the condescending tones. He said oh I’ll let the manager know and as I was driving off once again he made another rude noise is horrible service at night by young people that should know how to treat customers and the other gentleman that said he was the manager was the oldest one there I believe never again will I go to that McDonald’s now I know why avoid it and I’ve lived in this town for 27 years this might be my fifth time to that McDonald’s I guess being rude to customers is the norm for this McDonald’s since it’s carried on by more than...

I'm not going to tell you anything that you don't know about what you're getting from a McDonald's stop, so I'm leaving things like menu selection and pricing out of the review. It's all standard fare. I am also not reviewing this location based on delivery service, as that is just as reliant on the driver/service as it is the restaraunt.

*Drive-Thru: If you drive and order yourself this location is generally accurate and fast. During the pandemic the lines have been outrageous, sometimes stretching into the adjoining South Street - but that is not the fault of the location or employees.

*Staff: Generally great, honestly. They put up with a lot from day to day and this location always has friendly greetings.

*Interior/lobby: While I have not been inside in some time due to COVID-19, I can say that this location was recently updated with self-service kiosks for ordering and that, generally, the interior is very clean. You mayu occasionally see a dirty table or two from diners who have just left, but I have always found this McDonald's to be one of the more well-kept...
