Not happy with my first visit. Will likely be my last. I took my family because I'd seen that on Mondays kids meals were $2.99. I walked in and noticed the deal posted in plain view on the window next to the entrance. We sat down and ordered 2 kids meals and 3 other entrees. When the time came to pay, I looked at my bill and saw I had been charged full price for both kids meals. When I raised my concern the waiter informed me the policy had changed and they were no longer offering the Monday deal. When I pointed out that they still have the deal posted at the entrance he offered to let the manager know. Even after talking to the manager the establishment's response was basically "sorry, not sorry". No discount, no manager stopping by to apologize and explain the situation; nothing. It's a shame too because I promise I'll not step foot in any Cantina Louie anywhere despite how much I enjoyed the food. I'm certain I'll find a place with a more accommodating and upfront policy where I can spend my money. Not only did I find the unwillingness to admit that the posted policy entitled me to a reduction in my bill, I am convinced their silence on the policy was intentional. With several families with kids dining in their establishment on a posted kids menu discount day, I believe management was taking advantage of the families who wouldn't notice the discrepancy. An honest, customer oriented establishment would have made it clear to any family with children that the policy was rescinded and allow them to decide if they still wanted to dine there. Instead silence ensured everyone was on the hook when it came time to settle the bill. That level of dishonesty speaks volumes about management and how they regard their clientele. Thanks for making that obvious on my very first visit. I'll be sure to pass along the sentiment to everyone I know so they can avoid the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stopped by in the afternoon after an appointment nearby, excited to try this place since it had pretty decent reviews and the food looked tasty. We were greeted by a nice lady at the front who seated us right away. However, the floor was unbelievably sticky. With just us and another table in the restaurant, it made me wonder why this hadnāt been addressed. I have to admit, it was a bit of a turnoff, especially with such a great atmosphere. The walls were covered in beautiful murals, and there were lots of interesting decor items to admire.
Our waitress was prompt and friendly, bringing us chips and salsa right away. We ordered the carne asada fries, a street taco basket, a kids' cheese quesadilla and fries, and a surf and turf quesadilla. They were quick to bring out our childās meal, which we really appreciated. They didnāt bring our appetizer out early, but that might have been because we ordered everything at onceāIām not sure.
The food overall was tasty. My husband ordered two al pastor and one carnitas taco. He didnāt care for the carnitas, but he said the al pastor was amazing and heād definitely get those again if we go back. The fries were pretty good but didnāt hold up well for leftovers. My surf and turf quesadilla was good, but there were maybe two shrimp in the whole thingāit was mostly steak.
Our waitress checked on us frequently and even offered refills to go, which was a nice touch. Overall, it was a decent experience, but those sticky floors really dampened the vibe. That said, the place had a chill atmosphere, and we were...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst, I was happy to stop per first time at Cantina Louie's when I notice the size they had for the chips' sauce: A very appropriate size for the basket of tortillas normally served at Mexican restaurants. Also, the atmosphere was relaxing and the level of noise was low, just proper for lunch time. Every person from the staff who took care of me at Cantina Louie's, was very pleasant and at the end Willy, the manager, was there to make sure all was perfect. Before leaving, I mentioned to Willy how happy I was about the size of their container for the sauce that comes with the chips because no long ago I went to Salsa's Restaurant, another Mexican place close to home at Durbin Pavilion, no far from this one, and the cup of salsa for chips they use was extremely small, wouldn't hold more than 2-3 tablespoons and in addition, they wanted to charge me $4.00 for any additional tiny serving of a simple salsa for chips, after the first 2, while we were waiting for 2 full dinner orders! Also, the person in charge at Salsa's restaurant, was aggravated for my complaint about their policy of extra charge given the tiny size of their Salsa containers. For that reason we won't go back to Salsa's Restaurant. We will become regular customers at Cantina Louie's where Willy and his staff assured me they'd never charge extra for any sauce, no matter which one I want. Kuddos to Cantina Louie's at Mandarin,...
