This has been on my list for months but since they only open after 2PM on most of the weekdays, it's been difficult for me to find time to visit during my lunch hour. Being quite new to Egyptian cuisine, I was very curious with their menu offerings and decided to visit one day before this hidden gem becomes more well known! Do note that the wait times are a bit long so expect a 20-25 minute wait time for your food or order online in advance. I look forward to trying other items at Tasa2Go at my next visit!
|| L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Cross Streets are Orangethorpe Ave. and Euclid St. -Located in the same plaza as La Casa Mexican Grill -Decent amount of parking spots. Came in around 2:15pm on a weekday and the plaza was about 75% full.
|| F O O D || Hawawshi ($11.99) - Definitely my favorite item out of my order. As someone who was new to Egyptian cuisine, and seeing how many Yelpers raved about the Hawawshi, I decided to order one. It's crispy dough on both sides packed with a meat patty?! It was so satisfying and flavorful, had I not ordered other dishes, I would have finished this so quickly. Highly recommend for first timers at Tasa2go.
Meat Shawarma Fattah (M: $18.99/L: $24.99) - Seeing that the Shawarma is popular here, the lady at the register recommended me the meat shawarma fattah. The shawarma and rice were super flavorful but I did notice some of the meat pieces seems more overcooked than the others. Despite that, I still enjoyed the dish. How often do you get to find crunchy fried pita pieces within your rice? Definitely adds a nice crunchy texture to each bite!
Fried Beef Liver Sandwich ($10.99) - Was feeling adventurous (but not adventurous enough to go for the Beef Brain Sandwich) and decided to get an order of this. They definitely make sure to stuff the sandwich with liver and veggies (arugula?). It was a little hard to eat because the liver pieces were so big. I enjoyed eating it with a side of garlic and tahini sauce. The portions are big enough for two...
Read moreFirst time trying Egyptian and it certainly won't be the last! Newly opened as of 5 weeks ago so husband and I were eager to try. The location was easy to find. Parking lot could get crowded during peak times but we came for an early dinner which wasn't an issue. We ordered the middle eastern beef sausage sandwich, shawarma fries, meat shawarma fatta, Egyptian tea, fayrouz malt beverage and Nutella rice pudding. Everything was absolutely delicious! Fayrouz drink is a must try - kind of tastes like a pineapple kombucha or pineapple version of ginger ale. Each dish had generous meat portion and the seasoning flavorful with just the right amount of saltiness. My husband and I both loved their fries - highly recommend eating the shawarma fries there to get the full crisp texture. If you get the meat shawarma fatta make sure to stir everything well to get the full flavor. To top it all off, we were able to chat with the owner Remon for a bit and that became the highlight of our experience. Remon used the rest of my fayrouz to make an Egyptian pineapple mojito (non-alcoholic of course) - this was so yummy my husband and I were fighting over the last sips. Remon also introduced us to their special cream to top the rice pudding which was another mouthwatering topper. Remon lastly shared with us that opening this restaurant has been his dream for the past 15 years. He speaks with such genuine passion that it's no wonder the food tastes the way they do. Even the design of the restaurant is well thought out with the creative logo on all the decor. All of Remon's efforts are truly paying off and I'm sure it's just a matter of time before many others agree. Can't wait to return and try the rest of the menu...
Read moreRan into this place after I had already placed and order right next door and thought id stop in to see what type of food they have, got some info from a really nice lady that went over her menu even when she knew i wasn't getting anything (told her before i placed a order right next door) I was able to verify the meat is Halal and after about 10 minutes of talking I told her Id be back in a few coming days and left.
When discussing with my wife what we wanted for dinner she mentioned this place and i said ok go ahead and look over the menu, after looking it up my wife changed her mind because she's very picky about her food, however i was able to convince her to give it a shot and she ended up ordering from Remon, She ordered Basmati Rice with with Beef Liver, and Tasa Kids Combo for the kids, I ended up ordering Beef Kofta, Koshary, and Sobia for a drink.
Let me tell you I was not disappointed at all neither was my wife or my kids, the food was pretty authentic with a small twist but the twist was definitely for the good my wife's face lit up on the first bite and that speaks volumes, for the first time in months my 3 year old ate all his food because he loved it so much, my 5 year old enjoyed it so much he stated to eat off my wife and my plate, even my 1 year old kept asking for more, to a point where my wife actually told me to call them and thank that for the delicious food.
As for you Remon, your hospitality was absolutely genuine, you where very warm and welcoming and for that I thank you. I will definitely be back and will recommend Tasa2go to everyone. The only thing I regret is not finding this...
