Aegean Pizza — Restaurant in Gaffney

My family and I used to love going to eat at Aegean Pizza but we visited this evening for the first time in a few years and the restaurant has certainly changed a great amount. Upon entry, the waitress turned and quietly said, "I'll be with you in a minute," without any greeting.

We ordered a pizza and mozzarella sticks for the table while I got the veggie sub sandwich. The food took longer than normal to come out even though there were very little people in the restaurant. The mozzarella sticks, which we ordered as an appetizer, weren't brought out until the rest of the food was. The waitress claimed they all came together but the appetizers were cold and had clearly been left out. The quality of the pizza was nothing like it was when we frequented this place in the past. My sandwich turned out okay but the bread did seem to be a little overdone.

We asked for parmesan cheese and the waitress never brought it at all. One in our party waited a while for a refill. The only things that were quickly brought to the table were a to-go box and the check.

The man that checked us out at the counter asked how everything was and we mentioned the appetizer being cold. He initially didn't acknowledge it but he did eventually offer a free dessert to make up for it. While I appreciated the gesture, I politely declined, although I would have preferred that the mozzarella sticks were taken off the bill instead.

I do appreciate the attempt to rectify the situation but the quality of the food and service is just not up to their standards...

I had eaten here 100's of times. The last year, I was not really eating out much, caring for an ill family member. This place use to be excellent. Now it HORRIBLE! First to start with their prices sky-rocked, which is life but when the food is nasty that's a problem I had an $85 take out order that I might dispute on my credit card, since over 3/4's of the food was trashed it was that bad... 10" pizzas are are now the same price as large pizzas use to be. But, the toppings are sparing not the same as they were.. The meat lovers Stromboli use to be great, now there's no meat, it had a little cheese and it was very dry and just nasty, the large size for $20 now looks like a small size to, It was like dry bread pressed with cheese ..Now, when I order an antipasto salad I DO NOT expect nasty warped lettuce or meat that tastes bad, also it was the size was a child's portion for an outrageous price. Shame on you Aegena Pizza!!!! Also the loaf of bread was not garlic bread it had some cheese and no taste. Last items was wings. I ordered chicken wings not Cornish hen wings, they were so small, and they were to be hot wings, they had no taste. Horrible meal !!!! All the years I did business with Aegean Pizza, I will never come back or recommend you I am so disappointed. Also the woman who answers the phone needs to get it together, I need a price after I place an order not her trying to figure it out for 5 minutes. If we are heading to a recession this business will not make it through unless they make serious business and food...

I have always loved Aegean since they came to Gaffney. Even when I lived in other states, I couldn't wait to eat at Aegean when I came home to visit. Lately, things have changed. A couple of months ago, I ordered baked spaghetti. Instead of meat sauce, there was just marinara sauce on the pasta. Pieces of beef, like that used on the pizza, was laid on top of the cheese!?! It was horrible. I thought that maybe there was a new cook who didn't know how to prepare it so I brushed it off. My family decided two days ago that we would have take-out Aegean tonight. I've been so excited and looking forward to it. I ordered lasagna...which is one of my very favorites...but I didn't get to eat it. The meat sauce or cheese was spoiled and had a very obvious soured taste. I'm sure it was the meat sauce because we also got pizza and that Mozzarella cheese tasted fine. I can't just brush this off like I did with the odd baked spaghetti because there's no excuse for serving spoiled food to customers. I have serious digestive problems so I'm glad that I caught it with the first bite so I didn't get very sick. Aegean has been one of the places that I "trust" since I do have to be careful eating out with my stomach issues. Again, I have loved Aegean for 25+ years. The food has always been fresh, high-quality and delicious. The service has also always been superior. Aegean please don't lower your standards like a lot of restaurants have done! Stay true to the Aegean name that Gaffney residents have loved...
