If you are African American, don't expect any hospitality or customer service from Kabul Kabob House II. I walk in with my toddler this afternoon, the cashier came out from the back to answer the phone and places the phone order. He makes eye contact with me while taking the phone order, never once asking me if I have been helped or needed anything. He returns to the kitchen. So I decided to call the restaurant while sitting there since he seems to do better over the phone. He realizes it's me so he asks me what I needed to order. Never once acknowledged that I was already in the restaurant and was ignored.. At the register my digital coupon displayed for 15% off, however it had expired 5 HOURS ago,I asked if he would honor it, he said no and repeated my total. Two other customers entered the restaurant. They were greeted, order was ready and as they were leaving one of the staff said "have a good day!".
My order was ready I stood up to grab it from the counter, I take it and say, "is that it", she said yes and repeated what I had ordered. I turned around and left. If my toddler was not present I would have had a conversation with them.
In previous visits at the restaurant, they were just as abrupt and rude, however I overlooked it because I know in the service industry restaurant staff can be treated poorly by patrons and sometimes overworked. But because I had a chance to observe while waiting for my food to be prepared I saw that they reserved this sort of treatment for people of color.
Honestly, my sons and I love their food, if Kabob Express in Centreville were closer I would rather go give them my hard earned money. I have NEVER had a bad experience there. I will likely avoid going to Kabul Kabob House II unless my son insist. I am writing this review because people need to know the type of service they are providing to the community and...
Read moreI made a large and expensive order from Kkabob for at least 9 people. This store took advantage of me and had the worst service I’ve experienced. They only gave me portions for 3 guests despite my request and large payment. Once I called them to kindly and politely address the issue and see if there’s any way they could help out, the man on the phone completely disrespected and disregarded my concerns. I kept my calm and stayed collected because I never choose to be rude to anyone since it goes against my personal ethics. As I tried to explain what the issue is, he blew up on me and hung up. It was worse than dealing with a child having a temper tantrum (and I’ve worked with children). This is extremely unfortunate and unfair. Protect yourself from this business because chances are you’ll get scammed. I live in Haymarket and have a large community, and I’m making sure to provide this information to everyone I know. Stay safe and away...
Read moreEdit-Update: Different people at the helm lately. The food remains consistently good and the people who take your order at the front are now delightfully, pleasant-both on the phone and in person. We really enjoy their Qaubili Palau (best item on the menu). Be sure to order their spinach as a side dish! Remember the soup Nazi in Seinfeld? Ordering here is exactly like that experience. This one lady (young) is terrifying and rude. She needs to remember that we keep her in business not the other way around. It’s too bad because the food is good but she is a nightmare. We would eat there far more often if she would just adjust her attitude a little. The other members of her family are delightful but unfortunately they seem to put her at the helm rather than in the kitchen where she would be far better suited than working...
