We went to Looseys in the afternoon on Memorial Day. I had not been there for a couple of years and there we a couple of changes I notice. Before you walk in you will see that the entire entrance (which used to be a road) is now barricaded off. They have a lot of tables outside for sitting and eating. According to our waitress, initially it was done for the pandemic and it remained popular so they kept it. The inside has a good bar, lots of seating for people enjoying their meal and a stage for bands that they have play there. There were five other people eating at the bar when we got there. Bartender was nice and handled everything as you would expect. We ordered some sandwiches with a couple of unique requests and everything came out on time. Food was good and we would definitely go back there to eat. Just for the reference, they say they use Springer Mountain Farms chicken according to the menu and bartender. They have televisions but it is not a situation where you can watch five different games at the same time. But they are conscious that sports go on and they take requests without issue. May not be the game day spot if you HAVE to watch something, but it is good enough for Saturdays in the fall. The mens restroom was clean. They have an ATM as you walk through the entrance although they take credit cards. Oh, they used to hav a pool table and that is gone now. We will be going again.

I found this place in the Bring Fido app and went because I thought it would be dog friendly. It was hot and my server didn’t bring our dogs water. We ordered and waited over 10 minutes for a beer and a drink. Walking past the bar on the way to the bathroom, we saw our drinks sitting there. By the time they came to the table, the ice cubes in the drink had watered it down and he did not bring a glass with the can of beer. Our waiter was clearly distracted or angry or he just hates his job. When our neighbors asked for to go box, he brought a small one. When they pointed to their plates (almost full) and asked for a bigger box, he came back and literally threw it at their table. This was, by far, the worst service I’ve experienced in a long time. The neighborhood is rough and while we were there a large group on bikes came and allowed their kids to do bike tricks right next to the tables making the dogs afraid and all of us sitting outside very uncomfortable. Everything about this place screamed NOT WELCOMING!!! The food was alright when it finally came, though he got our burger toppings wrong and my friends hush puppies were completely raw on the inside. We won’t be back and as for “dog friendly” - no. We sat there over an hour in the hot sun and were never offered any water for our dogs. I ended up putting my glass of water in the floor for the dogs to have a drink! No thank you!

The rating is respective of the place, not overall in the restaurant landscape. It’s what I call a little dusty, divey, with good food and college town specials. Three of us had a burger, a chimichurri chicken and Chic-Fil-Loosey’s Nashville Hot, all with hand cut fries cooked perfectly crisp. The burger was decent sized and cooked well, tasted fresh as did the full set-up, and the chimichurri chicken was good and daughter made it disappear quickly. The Nashville hot was great, crispy, moist and very spicy! I’d do it again! They also have music on weekend nights when we’ve been there. And it’s a good mix of students and some locals, and visiting parents. It has plenty of outdoor seating when then weather’s nice and let’s are welcome. The Sunday drink specials was happy hour all day, great specialty cocktails and Mocktails, I had the $2 PBR tall boy since I was feeling retro collegiate. 🤪 We’ve been about 4-5 over the years and will continue to support them since we all enjoy the place and the service from Elliott was spot on, bravo!!

Beyond dissatisfaction! The bar tender who said she was the manager, wears glasses, has tattoos on her arm, and the name I was given is “Caila” demonstrated the most horrible customer service I have ever experienced since myself and my husband has visited this restaurant. I’m not sure if the bartender was having a bad night or what her reason was for her harassment, aggressive behavior, inappropriate, and unfair treatment. I will say her unfavorable representation of the business was terrible and leaves myself and others skeptical of what this company represents. My previous experience with this restaurant in times past has been wonderful and for that reason my husband and I patronized this business because of the amazing atmosphere, food, drinks, pool table, karaoke and good laughs. One of our frequent getaway places in town for a date night. Unfortunately tonight of all nights for no valid reasons I felt extremely humiliated, discriminated against, strong prejudice, degraded, and treated unequally as a human being because of my race and the color of my skin. Myself and my husband invited my friend and her spouse to Loosey’s to have something to drink, play pool, and celebrate her birthday. Sadly to say the night ended terribly. If you are of African American descendants or considered to be a minority I would not advise or recommend you to visit this place! 😢 #Sad #PrejudiceStill #Excist

Hey Joy,

In response to your exaggerated response to attack my character and make a false accusations about myself being a liar and not providing details to defend your employee. If it’s details that you are requesting I will gladly provide that information to you. Your employee had a negative demeanor upon myself and “my group” which was only 3 others enterting your establishment she spoke very rudely to again “my group” from the beginning unlike her interactions with other customers in the restaurant. Upon our entrance we where all enjoying a wonderful night out together celebrating my friends birthday we where all in a joyous mood and quite frankly I regret even suggesting coming to your restaurant that night. Initially “my group” tried to overlook Kayla’s behavior but we where quickly reminded our presences was unwanted.

The signs you stated where up outside where unnoticed as it was already nightfall when entering your restaurant and unfortunately we where not pre warned or informed of the early closing time by any of your staff and as you stated Kayla was not working alone there where 4-5 others working along with her that night. We kindly requested for a drink and coins to play pool that seemed to be a problematic request but again we all overlooked Kayla negative behavior towards my group. Of course It wasn’t until after we had been at your restaurant 15-20 minutes later Kayla comes over and rudely stated you would be closing with no explanation or reason. At that point I went online to your website to verify if she was actually telling the truth or simply wanted my group to leave, Because in times past myself and my husband has visited the restaurant closing wasn’t until much later at night. Online it showed the closing time to be 11pm if the reason for the early closing would have been communicated as it had been with others customers there would have been no misunderstanding.

What caused things to escalate was when Kayla aggressively came over to the area where “ my group” was which was near the pool table slammed the curtains shut, adjusted the light switch on the window and did not proceed to do the samething in other areas of the restaurant and out right blatantly made the sarcastic statement you need to hurry up and finish your pool game and leave and smirked at the customers at the bar. That was completely uncalled for especially with all the other customers that where still sitting in different areas. Why was she rude to us and kind and pleasant to other customers. Her behavior was a disgraceful. Don’t worry after my experience, your restaurant is no longer worthy of my presents! I won’t be...

Description: I discovered Loosey's about a year ago with some friends of mine. We heard that they had $6.00 Wednesday specials on burgers and knowing us, we were in the car and on our way before any of us could suggest another place. I've been three or four times now and I seem to recall good memories. My last visit was about a week ago and I'll focus on that experience a little more.

Food & Service: First off, my review is solely based on going to Loosey's on a Wednesday for $6.00 (base price) burgers. I cannot comment on any of their other foods with accurate information besides that they do have specials on other menu items. For the size and quality of the burger for that price, it's pretty unbelievable. You won't find anywhere in Gainesville that can offer the same value. The Top comes close but I haven't heard of any specials on theirs. My burger has for the most part always been cooked to my liking. It might not be perfect every time but again not complaining for the price. I do want to add though that depending on what you add to your burger, that price could go up a lot. I usually just get a fried egg and some cheese for like a buck fifty more. If you're feeling adventurous though, get the parmesan truffle fries - very yummy. I'm also a fan of their garlic aioli as well as their beer mustard. Sauces are twenty five cents each so might as well try one. Service has usually been friendly here but I've noticed they can be slow and unresponsive at times. We had a moody waiter once but with that many people coming in on a Wednesday night, I can understand.

Final Thoughts: All in all, I would recommend Loosey's to anyone craving a burger worth eating. I'd say the regular price puts it pretty even with the burgers at The Top but the Wednesday special cannot be beat. The only thing I could find annoying about this place is the lighting is quite dim, seating area isn't too large, and music is sometimes played too loud. At the end of the day, it is a bar. Just a heads up in case you wanted to catch up with some friends and didn't feel like using your...

Have been going here for awhile and unfortunately I had delete my previous review. The past few visits have left me less than pleased. My most recent visit was Friday night. I had a date. I recommend that we meet here, as I usually feel comfortable here and the food is good. I arrived a little earlier to make sure we could get outside seating. I was informed that they had a band playing. Which is the norm for Friday nights. Never had an issue as I was outside dining and band was inside. I went inside to the bar to order our drinks and informed them that we were sitting outside and would need a server. They said no problem. We sat there for 20 minutes and the only server came was there to clean off our table from the previous customers. When we had him for menus he said "Im not your service but they would be by soon." As we waited I went back to the bar to order another drink. As I waited a man behind the bar said he wouldn't serve me without an armband. I explained we are outside waiting on our service at that point another bartender I was familiar with came over and got me my drinks. And assured me that a service would be with us shortly to get our food order. No one ever came to get our order. We were there for an hour or more. My date got inpatient with just cause. So I decided we needed to find somewhere to eat. I went to close my tabs only to get an attitude from the bartender asking again about an armband. As if I wasn't going to be able to pay my tab without an armband!? I just wanted to checkout so we could go elsewhere. Then my regular bartender came by and helped me close out my tab. I'm not sure what is going on with the service lately as it used be great. It hasn't been since February/early March that I noticed a decline in service. The last 3 times I've been here have been unenjoyable. My date on Friday night was the straw that broke the camels back. I truly loved this place. It's a shame to watch it go down...
