Before I get into my story let me start with the conclusion: if the owner checks your restaurant's google review, you need to consider getting some new staff members because the current ones are taking their paycheck but not doing their job, literally.
Today is the most outrageous and disrespectful experience I have experienced in years with any restaurant. I placed my order, a sushi burrito that contains only meat, rice, and sauce (the chipotle next door rolls up your burrito in 2 minutes), in the store around 8:40 p.m., and I was the only person in the entire store the entire time.
After waiting 30 minutes without getting my order I went to check if my order went through at all, and I saw all four staffs just laughing and chatting and doing absolutely nothing with a customer waiting in the lobby.
One guy tried to explain that they had a lot of delivery orders, but no finished order was packed ready for delivery, so even they did have delivery orders, those orders were just neglected like mine, and I saw with my own eyes that they only started working after I walked up and asked.
The cashier assured me my burrito would be ready in 3 minutes after I asked, but it was not for another 15 minutes before I finally walked out of the store with my food.
I am a frequent of the place because the food is good quality and the price is fair. From my prior experiences the restaurant has never been the most efficent to-go place, but it is sushi that we are talking about here so I understand. However, I would not tolerate delay due to the staff's laziness and intentional neglect.
To be fair, one guy from the back kitchen tried to mend things by offering me free soda after I was there for 45 minutes, but I would much rather to have you just do your job and get my order in a...
Read moreBeen trying to find some good shrimp tempura sushi for quite awhile without breaking the bank in the process.
Found this place while waiting for my husband at the college. Placed a take out order online (it's free. There IS a charge if you do it by phone. Times are changing right?) Lol
Took advantage of the "2 rolls for $10" and ordered the Shrimp Tempura and Teriyaki chicken rolls.
The Shrimp Tempura was good, great? Not so much but satisfied the craving we'd been having. The Teriyaki chicken on the other hand...we didn't even finish. It was in no way teriyaki but chicken salad in a seaweed wrap with rice. No disrespect at all but it just wasn't good.
We got a coupon for ordering for a free regular roll next time, which we used the next day since we were out there again. Shrimp Tempura was good and the same again.
Customer service was great, food was ok. Parking sucked. It fills up during lunch time. You may circle the block, you may park illegally...do what ya...
Read moreI figured this would be of some use to at least one of you, especially if you are new in the area.
This is not your typical spot. The food is simple, honest, and lacks over the top flair, but it's special here in GNV for a reason. From a hidden sushi spot to local legend, it has been a joy to see them evolve over these long and strange years. The food is great, the staff are down to earth, and extremely accommodating; it's everything you want from a restaurant in general.
Sushi-2-Go has watched me grow from a freshman in college to a professional and beyond. This spot has a place in the heart of all UF alumni, and I am no different. I recommend Sushi-2-Go to everyone who loves sushi, period.
Whether today is the last order or not (as I am constantly moving around), hopefully, I can encourage you to partake in a piece of the UF experience. Consider this...
