I went in on a Friday evening during their soft opening, and the owner, standing at the front was quick to greet me. Maybe it’s because of the times, or because they haven’t had their grand opening yet, but it was surprisingly not too busy. When I told him how many months I had been eying this place while it was still being built, we were able to talk a bit about all what went into it while he asked me if I was familiar with hotpot style dining. While I had been, I may have been too quick to not ask for a refresher. Even still, the food was amazing.
I had an herbal broth with some beef and lamb, cut amazingly thin, and the choices for what you could have in the hotpot itself were wide, and admittedly, I wish I had brought some friends with me so I could try more out. I cannot stress this enough, a single meat order is probably enough to fill a single person up if not more, and admittedly, I could not finish the meal. The owner also warned that the meat would cook fast, and while I listened, I admittedly still let the meat sit too long in the hot pot. Overcooked or not, the hearty, herbal broth permeated through the meat, melt in your mouth tender, and I was more than satisfied from that flavor combination.
The owner was pretty attentive, and because it was a slow night, we talked a bit. While I won’t divulge any personal information about him, I could tell how much love he had for the business and for his food. He would suggest broths to try another time and tell me a bit about it. I’m familiar with some, since I’m a regular at Ramen joints locally, but I’m sure if you asked him about any of them, he’d probably get lost in telling you every detail about that broth, from ingredients to health benefits. He even informed me that he kept the ingredients separate when I had asked for the rest of my soup To-go, specifically because the noodles I ordered don’t sit well in the broth overnight and get soggy.
At the very end, the gentleman brought out an unexpected but pleasantly surprising plate of various melons slices, as well as a hot towel for me to clean my hands with. I don’t know how he picks his produce, but those melons were so soft, moist, and ripe that I was actually taken off guard. The melons went down smooth, and honestly, they helped cleanse my palate of the strong herbal broth and ease my over-full stomach.
TLDR? George’s Hotpot and BBQ is a quaint new restaurant run with love and culinary knowledge that shines through from the moment you sit down to the moment you leave. The broth is hearty and the portions are larger than you’d think. It’s clear that Hotpot restaurants are best experienced with friends, but if you want to try it for yourself, the most jovial man is waiting to walk...
Read moreService, ambiance, and food are definitely 10/10! would definitely rate the place 10 stars if I could🌟 No more other kbbq/hotpot AYCE places now that I found about George's since no other restaurants could beat the quality, service, and especially the price here!
My family came in for weekend lunch, before it got busy, and were greeted and seated quickly. It's our first time here so a very nice lady (seems like one of the 2 owners since this is a family business😊) took time to explain us what we should expect. There was only 1 other waitress to help our table and a few others at the time, but she was always quick and attentive to every of our order! The lady and our waitress accommodated with our peanut allergy request carefully, especially with the sauce bar where the waitress made us 2 different sauces with 1 peanut in and 1 peanut free😊. Each portion/order was plenty for 4 people to share, the grilled meat quality was superb (all marinated beef and pork were incredibly tender!), and veggies + seafood + meat for hotpot were so fresh and delicious as well! The stone crab for hotpot was prepared and presented nicely, making it much more easier for anyone eho wants to try crab as they cut the crab to 2 pieces and put the pieces back together under the shell for presentation.
Unlike other hybrid kbbq and hotpot places where they'd force the entire table to have hotpot even if only 1 person likes to try it - here, George's let us know that even only 2 out of 4 of us wanted to try hotpot, we can still do that instead of forcing all 4 of us to order hotpot. Our family all had hotpot after our bbq because we all wanted to try😊 We had different broth bases but the best one for me must be George's pork broth (the first on the list) as it was authentically sweet from the braised pork😊
After our meal, they brought us hot towels to clean our hands and sliced oranges for dessert - couldn't ask for a better sevice! I'd still be happy if I have to pay more for the food because the quality is superb, and the staff at the restaurant really care about their customers!
The dine-in experience was Chef's kiss! Thank you to every staff that day that helped make our weekend lunch so lovely! Will come back with more of our...
Read moreHorrible horrible horrible! Terrible service. The worst hot pot/korean bbq I ever been to. The service was horrible. Our waitress was the worst. We decided to go with the Korean bbq instead of the hot pot. It was our first time here and Our waitressed did horrible job on explaining the menu and explaining things to my wife (it was her first time trying hot pot and Korean bbq) The food came out 30 minutes later after we place our order the food is Uncooked so there no reason why the food should’ve took that long. Since we cook the food on the grill. (People that came in after us got their order first) and on top of that our waitress was bringing our food order little by little. So we cook the chicken for our son Because he was really hungry. We were all really hungry after I cook the chicken. The grill pan wasn’t cooking anymore and our waitress walked by a few times didn’t care to change it or check until I called her and said something about it. I had to call our waitress a lot of times for refills on water and soda when my wife ask her for another soda. She brought a new glass with no ice. Instead of the soda. We asked for xtra napkins never brought us the napkins forgot all about it. The food was OK. The duck was average Nothing special about it. I have had better duck in New York and DC. But my favorite part was when the bill came and we pay. first she told me that I didn’t gave her enough (which it was a lie)she just didn’t count the money properly lol then she told me the total after she counted the money properly this time and realize I gave her enough money. I’m guessing she was expecting big tip for horrible service lol i usually tip good cause I used to work in the food industry back when i was a teen. i dont tip for horrible service. Food was average and not worth the money. Save ur money and eat somewhere that values their customers. They lack...
