Ate here tonight as tourists in Gallup. We wanted authentic Mexican food, which this restaurant did great a providing. The waitress was very polite and attentive. The reason I am giving it three stars is because the menu did not advise that the tamales are very spicy. I love spicy food to an extent but this was so hot I could not eat it. Everything I had after it only tasted like the heat from the tamales. I feel like the menu should tell the client what to expect so you know how to order. The waitress did not mention anything either. Also the salsa that comes with the basket of chips was too hot for a family to enjoy. My toddler loves salsa but I was afraid for him to have any because it was too hot. We asked if there was a mild version and were told no. I’m surprised and would not recommend this place if you like mild or medium heat food. It’s only for those that like to leave without...
Read moreWe have eaten here before and the food was very good. But me and my mom and her friend came on Sunday March 17th 2019 after we got done at walmart to enjoy a nice meal. They were sort of busy. We sat and waited... and waited... and waited.... finally my moms friend asked one of the waitresses if we could have a menu becuz no one has waited on us and she said no because their out of menu's. What I dont get it there was a family of 5 or 6 that came in after us and they all got a menu and got their drinks ordered as soon as they came in. And not even the big tables that they had...head menus there were eating their food. How do you not have menu's???? That honestly ruined our day and our appetite and we left and will not go back. Felt like we weren't wanted there and it sucks because they have good food. But apparantly not enough menus...
Read moreNever got my food. Sat with my family patiently for over an hour. We watch other diners that came in after us get served before us. After hour passed, I asked about time frame, and the waitress used party that left 20 mins prior as an excuse to why we weren't served. I believe because of small town relationships, certain patrons are prioritized over others. This restaurant is a direct representation of the poor customer service and food quality of Gallup is at an all-time low. I am well aware that I am often treated differently because of my heritage in Gallup (black). It's your right to do so, but basic common courtesies, and service should not be ignored because you don't know me or may feel some sort of way culturally. Whatever the reason, LA Carreta has failed Gallup as a city and community member....
