It's a little bit sad because I think this place COULD be really great. I am on a lifelong search for great buffalo wings. The wings here are COOKED very well. Not perfect- some wings were a little squishy, but most were crispy. The sauces are really disappointing. The jalapeno sauce is watery and very sweet. The Korean pepper tastes like basic teriyaki. The buffalo... So sad ... The buffalo is just bottled fake-butter-flavor buffalo sauce. Places that have "wings" in the name should respect the art of buffalo wings enough to know you have to use real butter or no butter at all- not a sauce that says "buffalo" in the label. Then the service was weird. We tried to make the waitress like us but she just seemed to not. And when we tried to order habanero rub she said it was way too spicy and she didn't recommend it(after trying the others, I think we would have liked it better than the wings we ended up with) and when I asked her to recommend a cocktail off their drink menu, she said she "wasn't a drinker." I thought that was a bit harsh lol. If she'd have sold us on cocktails, the wings might have tasted better. So overall, I wouldn't go back, but I've had...
Read moreAlways tough to fairly rate a brand new business/restaurant. Will update as additional visits occur.
The good - the location, vibe, and layout are great. They really did a nice job the overall design and artwork. The Korean Pepper Wings and seasoned wedge fries were really good. I found the Pesto/Garlic Wings were flat on flavor. The wait staff seemed a little inexperienced but were very friendly and attentive, I'm sure they will get even better as time goes on.
The bad - no drink menus when we went. It took a long time to get the place open, it seems like there was plenty of time to get this done prior to opening. Given the sports bar vibe (lots of tv's and wait staff in jerseys) you would think they would have some kind of happy hour or game day specials. There is a beautiful full bar so a shame not to have it better promoted.
The ugly - $10 for a glass of house Cabernet Sauvignon and $9 IPA are way overpriced. You are in Lodi wine country, a glass of house wine would generally be under $10 and beer $5 - $6.
Will I be back? Sure, I like supporting local businesses. Probably will stick with water, no need for two drinks to be...
Read moreI recently had to plan/host a party of 50 for our U13 boys’ soccer team and their families at Papas & Wings, and it could not have gone better! The food was delicious, the service was fast, and they made the whole experience stress free for me.
A huge thank you to Heriberto, the owner, for being so accommodating from start to finish. He helped us plan the menu, set up the space perfectly for a big group, and truly cared about making sure everyone had a great time.
We also want to shout out Lizette, our server and bartender, who was absolutely incredible. She handled a room full of hungry kids and adults like a total pro, super friendly, attentive, and on top of everything the entire time. We couldn’t have asked for better service.
Highly recommend Papas & Wings for team events, parties, or any big gathering. We will definitely be back...
