Their donuts when we visited were the best we have had in a decade, and we have had donuts all over the country and in Canada too.

Their glazed cake donuts were perfection. The insides had the right amount of texture and were just moist enough. The outsides were glazed exactly right. AND, when we were finished, our fingers were not greasy at all. I then had a traditional chocolate glazed donut. While it was an hour or so old, I had no complaints. There was not an extra drop of grease. The chocolate while pedestrian was lovingly applied. The donut was carefully cooked. It was 5 star. My wife had the crème filled donut. We were stunned. Again, the crème was traditional, yet it was done beyond textbook, splendidly crafted. That donut though, wow. They attention that put to those goes beyond anything we see in and around Houston.

Granted, they had no working bathroom, the dining area was worn thin, and the staff was tired or something, so much so they wouldn't even talk to any of the customers, no matter how much any of us in line tried to make small talk.

Yet, we both agreed we would make the one hour trip again just for a $5 worth of donuts. We were there around 10:30 on a Friday on a school day. Thank you...

Normally we love this place but we tried to get a dozen Kolaches and they had a horrible rotten Chemical taste. They called and they said to bring back however when I got back with the kolaches they treated me as if I was stupid and tried to say it is the butter and they have been there for 34 years and never had this complaint before and continued to say it as I said I understand it just happens sometimes. I was going to just get them replaced and get something else but I got my refund and left. Sadly probably will not be back there due to poor customer service. went to Dannay's Donuts the morning we were leaving crystal beach. Donuts literally tasted like cardboard that went through the dishwasher. The kolaches were too long for my liking and also tasted dry and hard, too hard to bite through for my sensitive little teeth. the coffee smelt like old people sneezed in it and then coughed in it. the food tasted like it had been sitting in the cabinet for a week, and it was not fresh as we watched them put it in the microwave. it was also very hot inside and there were flys everywhere all over the food.
