La Nopalera Galveston — Restaurant in Galveston

Very disappointed. We arrived around 9:30 am on a Thursday morning. We seat our selves, took about 10 minutes for someone to greet us. There was 2 ladies. One placing an order in the pos the second one just standing. The waitress took our order and brought our drinks 20 minutes passed until MY food arrived. I asked for salsa for my taco. At this point my wife’s food hasn’t arrived. 5 minutes later my wife’s food and my salsa arrived and guess what? Yeap! My taco is cold now so I sent it back to reheat. The waitress was really trying but she seemed overwhelmed with the 3 tables in the floor. I don’t really know what was the other girl job. I have been coming to the Nopalera restaurant once a year for the last 10 years. And in the beginning the food was amazing! But in the last few years it seems as though the restaurant had lost its touch. After being a bit disappointed with my last visit, I was sure I would never return. However I find myself in Galveston for Memorial Day weekend and decided too give them one last shot. And it seems as though I have fell in love once again with this place. Not only have they improved their look but The service was “amazing”,and the food was “Outstanding”!!!! I had three different plates because my taste buds were in heaven!!!!! I am surprised at how high the ratings are for this restaurant.

We visited about 2 months ago and the food was not that great- it really wasn't

We went in the morning, kids had pancakes- they were extremely dried and our other dishes just didn't have the flavor we expect it to have (Menudo, Barbacoa Plate, Huevos A La Mexicana, Huevos Rancheros) . From the outside this looks like something I would expect good old homemade grandma/momma's food-- but the failed to meet our expectation.

Sorry won't be visiting again.
